Thinking Aloud -- Carnauba's

Killr, I have always agreed on the thought that detailers spend way too much emphasis on durability. Do we really care about durability? You're right: most of us do add layer upon layer of sealants (for example) on our cars just about every change we get.

This is true. I saw some on Autopia saying that NXT didn't give much durability. I said I'm getting 2-3 months worth on cars. They said it should get more for a sealant.

It's not a sealant!

I wax my truck every 2 weeks. Turtle Wax Platinum would me fine. I just like to try different things. Remember, most of my customers think that waxing there car is washing it with KIT carnauba wash!

Which is a good car wash.

I think AG picking up Collinite is the best thing they could have ever done. All I thought of them was of durability but that is just the half of it. The whole line up looks wonderful and is alot easier to use than I assumed.

I couldn't agree more. I live in an area with harsh, cold, salty winters. This is the only time of the year I care at all about durability. Now that I've discovered Collonite, I see no reason what so ever to buy a synthetic sealant EVER again. The shine Collonite (or almost any carnauba) gives IMO is much more eye pleasing than the look of a sealant. Personally, I don't even like to put a sealant under my wax because I feel it degrades the shine.

I also agree with Killr's statement that a lot of detailers put an emphasis on durability. I don't know why because these are always the same guys who tell me they put 10 layers of Zaino or Klasse on their car every month.

The reason I have purchased #16 and Paste Glaz is because of the rep they have when it comes to light colored cars. Since my stang (untill recently) was the only car I played with thats what I focused on, what looks good on white. For me it was carnuaba's until I discovered WG DGS it looked great as did EX, funny thing is I'm pretty sure #16 would out last both of them and yes I actaully do wait until they die before reapplying (except for winter prep). I'm one of the few who actually take their wax/sealant to the limits too see how far they can go as it is important to me. I've said it before and I'll say it again "I judge all products against #16, if it can last close to if not more then #16 I will use it". I've ramble on enough I just got back from a long trip so if what I wrote doesn't make sence oh well......

If your a customer paying bucks to have your personal ride detailed by a pro i would think that durability would be a main concern, after all, the customer doesn't want to shell out every 3 months for a detail job........SO DURABILY IS A SELLER FOR THE PRO....

but if your like most of us into our own rides, than durabiliy goes out the window and waxing every chance we get comes into play....especially if your in a warm state in the winter...
I wax every week........ in the east on my garage queens

ALSO: Where you live is a big issue..a daily rider in snow and sleet and bitter cold every day, a sealer for longer protection would be my wish........and if your cars a garage queen...then a weekly wax is what i do....
