I met him and got to drive that car.... sorta.
Back in the early 90's, I was a junior sales mgr. at a local Dodge dealership owned by local billionaire and Good 'ol Boy, Tex Earnhardt. Bob was in town for some event at a local track here, Firebird Intl. Raceway. Tex and Bob were friends from way back, apparently, and Tex asked Bob if he would display the car in the showroom of the dealership while it was in town to which Bob agreed. When the car arrived it needed to be pushed out of the trailer and into the showroom and I got to be the one to steer it while it was pushed the 100 feet or so to where it was displayed.
It was advertised on the local radio stations and one of the local morning tv news shows did a live remote from the dealership. A lot of people came in to see that car.
Such a cool car and literally a piece of automotive history.
