This is what a brand new car SHOULD look like when you pick it up from a dealer:

Your new car looks great!

Isn't it nice to NOT have to polish five years off a new car's lifespan just to remove the dealer installed damage?

Last new car I bought I ordered just the way I wanted it. And told them to call me when the truck was scheduled to get there. I was waiting for it. And after they rolled it off the truck I had it parked way out in the back lot with a big sign (which I made and brought myself) that said "do not move this car, Do not prep this car".

I finished the paperwork and drove the car home with the white sticky paper still on the hood, trunk, and sides. I spent the entire next day removing the paper, washing, and claying the "rail dust" off the paint. I was so happy to see that it was perfect afterwards. And ten years later it still is.:):autowash::buffing::dblthumb2:

Congrats on the new FRS!

Hope your windshield lasts longer than the ones I've seen online in the FRS/BRZ forum!

Very nice, looks like a fun car to do some spirited driving :dblthumb2:

When I ordered my car a few years ago, it was filthy when I picked it up, and I couldn't have been happier...because you see I told them not to touch the exterior of the car.

Nice, that is how my truck was, I looked on the lot to find it. Bought it and the guy said sorry our lot guys are gone for the day, was after 5 on a Sunday. I had to put the floormats in, pull the plastic off the steering wheel and seats! Perfect paint off the lot!

Just got a BRZ this weekend, was covered in pollen because the dealer had listened to my "no touching the exterior anymore than you have already". Though there is some light scratches where I assume the plastic was on the lower panel near the rear wheels (on both sides) and by the door that was covered with pollen so I didn't see them until the rain washed it away (they also had a new BRZ on the lot with a huge door ding).

Taking it to a consultation this weekend with Jean-Claude so hopefully he can do something about it before it gets opti-coated. If not, oh well, this is just a car for me to learn manual / learn autox / cheap payment until I am ready for a M3 or something similar (which I will definitely order and not pick from the lot, it isn't just the dealer that causes damage but the dealer's customers).

Of all the states I have purchased vehicles in, I would have to say that New Jersey salesmen are the worst... I won't even go into detail! Glad to see they complied with your request to say the least, paint corrections on a new vehicle are always my favorite :D

You mean they aren't terrible everywhere? One day I went around to test drive a bunch of cars and no salesmen knew about the cars and only one asked for my license and contact information.

I usually take my SUV for an oil change.....####### just spray it down with water and well what do you know that "Free Wash" turns out to be nothing but water spots on my car!

The FR-S is a sweet ride, especially in black and I can imagine some concave bronze 5 or 6 spokes on it right now! I know a guy w/ a BRZ who had some cat-back added to the car and it ends with LESS, can't remember the name but my God did it sound AWESOME!

Good luck with the car!

ha ha touche' , but shockingly I can say when I purchased in North Carolina and Texas the salesman were very knowledgeable and helpful, versus New Jersey in Florida which... well I won't go into detail!

Awesome FR-S!!

I actually have a new black '15 Subaru STI sitting at the dealer lot right now and should be able to pick it up today. I also let the dealer know not to wash the car or peel any of the protective plastic off.

Question: What is the correct process on loosening and removing the heavy layer of caked on dirt and rail dust? I do not have a foam gun and I am very worried that if I just wash the car with a mitt I might induce swirl marks.

I will be using these products in the order below to prep the car:

1. Shampoo - Chem Guys Mr.Pink (Chemical Guys CWS_402_16 - Mr. Pink Super Suds Shampoo & Superior Surface Cleanser (16 oz))
2. Clay Bar - Chem Guys Medium + Synthetic Lubricant (Chemical Guys CLY_402 - Clay Bar, Gray (Medium) (100 g))
3. Glaze - Chem Guys Black Light Hybrid (Chemical Guys GAP_619 - Black Light Hybrid Radiant Finish (1 Gal))
4. Sealant - Jet Seal (Chemical Guys WAC_118_16 - JetSeal Sealant and Paint Protectant (16 oz) )
4. Pure Carnauba Wax - Chem Guys 5050 (Chemical Guys WAC_302 - 5050 Limited Series Concours Paste Wax V2 Chrome & 2 Applicators)
5. Quick Detailer/Sealant - Chem Guys Hybrid V7 (Chemical Guys WAC_808_16 - Hybrid V7 Optical Select High Gloss Spray Sealant & Quick Detailer (16 oz))

Why not hit the quarter carwash on the way home and use the soap there and then rinse it down, maybe even the spot-free rinse to finish up, just a thought and a legit concern.
