thought i would never see... paul dalton use a random orbital and be happy
with it's performance/outcome since he mainly uses a rotary.
just goes to show you with technology (and open mind) progressing each and every day,
different tools can do the job just as well...

note: some of the questions that are asked and his response from this video...

Q: Does it take more work to remove defects when using this machine in comparison to a rotary?

A: No not at all, I've cut my correction time in half using this Rupes Bigfoot system. Definitely changed the way I detail and made my life stress free.

Q: Paul, Oribitals are not as effective as rotarys for more intensive paint correction, no?

A: No, this is different, this has a 15mm orbit, and is the smoothest machine ever, no vibration what so ever!!!

Wow, ive been wanting to get my hands on a flex, but now im really wanting one of those bigfoot setups. looks like a great machine.

I'm just guessing that:

-His $8-10,000/per vehicle..."detailing-charge"...may face a reduction?
-Less than 61 'steps'?

I think Paul has been using a DA for a while now hasn't he???

BTW....my Rupes LHR21e is on it way as of yesterday! :dblthumb2:

Big Props to Keivn Brown for getting it into the US at a great price!

don't know if he's been using the rupes for a while, possibly so and he probably got it a long time ago (maybe it was released earlier do to his location) being the detailer that he is. chad, please let us know your honest opinion of this when you get a chance to put it to work. i've been looking at one of these for a while and the holidays are right around the corner ;) . yeah, i don't think you can find one person more experienced, humble, and helpful like KB (these are the kind of people you want to support!) and i wish him the best with BD...

Agreed!!! :dblthumb2:

I'll be sure to post pics, info, and my honest opinion after I've done a few cars with it....hoping it arrives by Friday.

I had him send me some of the Rupes pads to try out too. ;)

Do you have the LHR-15E?

Do you have the LHR-15E?

Nope, not yet. They haven't made it in 110v yet so you'd have to get a converter in order to use it in the states. Tuan from Glossworks Paint Restoration & Protection in Cali has one though. ;)

I'm sure it's just a matter of time before they make it as the demand is now there.

The Rupes Bigfoot system is a great machine - works and corrects really well - very well balanced machine

I've never met Paul but who knows, the detailing world is a pretty small place....

One thing for sure, in the last 3-5 years I've seen more new technology introduced to the market than over my entire career in this industry and for the most part it's making it easier and faster for the "average" person to get show car results as we prove all the time here at our Detailing Boot Camp Classes and our Thursday Night Classes.

The most important thing is to always be open to new ideas, products, tools, pads and techniques. I encourage others to do this and practice what I preach.

If you wall yourself off and think you know it all the world and technology will pass you by...

Here's an example of being open to new power tools
Most of these guys, if not all of them, had never used a Flex 3401 to buff out a car before let alone a really cool 1940 Ford Hotrod.

But after attending our Detailing Boot Camp Class they all have real-world experience using the Flex 3401

And then they were all able to try some more new technology, that is Gtechniq Panel Wipe and EXO to coat the paint on this car after polishing it to perfection.

Spraying Gtechniq Panel Wipe to strip the paint

Carefully removing the Panel Wipe so as not to mar the perfectly polished paint...

Here's I'm demonstrating how to apply Gtechniq EXO...

Now we're CAREFULLY wiping off the Gtechniq EXO...

And here are the results from new technology, Gtechniq EXO a organic/inorganic hybrid coating.

So yeah, sometimes new technology really is the real deal and for this reason it's important to always be open to it...

I have been reading about the new RUPES (it has been on the stores here in Europe for quite some time) and I still don't understand the hype about this DA (it even isn't forced rotation).
Can someone who has used it explain it to me, please? Rasky?
As for the endorsement of Paul Dalton, he is an excellent detailer, but he is also an excellent business man...

Kevin has done a far better job explaining the benefits of the Rupes machine than I could ever do. Read here.

Personally I never cared for the forced rotation of the Flex and once the MF pads/system was released I was getting equal or better correction with my traditional DA polishers and my Flex just sat on the bench and collected dust.
