I just bought a 2010 Corvette Grand Sport. Cyber Gray and it is very clean. Only had 4k miles on it and taken care of very well. A few minor swirls. My second car is a 07 Lexus ES350 Black paint.

I want to make the Corvette really pop and shine. I will practice first on the Lexus. Here are the products I have and the order I plan on going. I will be using a Harbor Freight DA with HF Pads or Lake Country Pady

Step 1. Meguiars Ultimate Wash
Step 2. Meguiars Clay bar kit
Step 3. Meguiars Ultimate Compound (polishing pad)
Step 4. Meguiars 7 Show Car Glaze (Extra fine polishing pad)
Step 5. Meguiars Ultimate liquid wax (Hand apply)
Step 6. (Considering buying CQuartz coating to finish it off)

Considering one of the ceramic coatings to finish it all off. What do you guys think of my plan? I already have all these products so I'd rather not buy new polish/wax/wash etc. I

What kind of backing plate are you using?
And what size are your LC pads?

I was planning to use the backing plate that came with the polisher, 6in hook and loop. Also I'll be using 6in. pads.

Don't do it.🙅🏻lol.
And if you just bought a 2010 Corvette w/only 4,000 miles, what's an extra few bucks for a quality polish & pads gonna hurt?😉

What do you recommend for pads/backing plate then? Is the Meguiars Ultimate line no good?

The Meguiars line is great. The thin foam pads & backing plate👍🏽
Lake Country Flat Foam pads/backing plate works great too.
Get the 5" pads/backing plate setup.

The Meguiars Showcar Glaze is ok, but it's more made for older single stage paint. Your modern clearcoat will benefit more by using Meguiars Ultimate Polish after the Ultimate Compound.

I am pretty sure you would not want to put CQuartz over top of a wax. Change step 5 to a panel wipe/IPA wipe down and your good. Also it is a good idea to have a pad larger than your backing plate to avoid hitting the backing plate on something you shouldn't.

Meguiar's brand is fine. its all gonna come down to preference.. I never used a Harbor Freight DA , but if your budget allows get the 5inch backing plate with 5.5 inch pads. I prefer thin pads, ie. ThinPro Foam Pads
Ditch the Meguiars 7 Show Car Glaze and Used "Ultimate polish" after the compound step.

You want to make sure you have 3 pads for the compound/polishing step. invest in a soft like dish brush to clean the pads with. Its hard to do paint correction with gunk.

Use good Microfiber towels.(South Korean). I prefer the edgeless microfiber towels for the paint and the cheep big-box store ones for cleaning the dash..:dblthumb2:

I thought they were supposed to be from North Korea?? I recently bought a boatload of microfibers. Are they no good??

You might try Ultimate Polish before the Compound (least aggressive method first!). It's cheap. And it might be all you need. I'd skip the #7. I like to be sure a sealer goes down directly on cleaned paint for maximum adhesion (Ultimate Liquid Wax is a sealer, not a wax). ULW is really nice on its own.

Thanks guys. I'll buy a bottle of ultimate polish. Any other suggestions to get the best combination of easy to use along with deepest shine?

Not sure on the Vette if you'll need to compound it. I personally would use Ultimate Polish and a White pad and see if that does the trick on the swirls. It's tough paint but this should work out fine. I'm a fan of glazing after polishing too. I've been a Blacklight Fan ever since using it and will strongly recommend two coats of it as instructed and then your Ulitimate Wax. It will be a very deep gloss once you do that.
