Thoughts on paint squeegees

Just ask Scott, both of us use an electric blower after rinsing, gets 95% of the water off in a pinch and out of all the nooks and crannies that suv's have that will drip and drip (you'd be wiping over and over with towels, like window seals etc). I don't even use a guzzler or anything, just blower and then qd' the vehicle. Less touch = less marring.

I did this for the first time today and it worked like a charm...:applause:

the other benefit is no water running down and mixing with your polish or wax or quick detailing. Its rather nice to move straight to the next step without having to allow some drying time.
 
I would have to agree with Scott and Surfer. An electric blower works great.
 
Yes sir, Surfer and Scott bring up great points. The less you touch the paint the better off you are, I don't have an electric blower just yet but I borrowed my neighbors and it works great :righton: seriously I got to read and apply some tips and tricks that you guys come up with more often.....like surfer said on SUV's it works great.

Thank you guys for sharing...even though both of you have been saying that for some time now hehehe :D

Yup, when I tried drying with a towel, I'd end up having water start drip when I was using AIO or waxing or sealing etc. Our trucks have nooks and crannies that water just loves to hide and drip from, blower blast it all out.

On a waxed/sealed car, after washing, just shoots water right off.

Nica - especially on the roof where my truck has grooves for water run off, just point the blower up there and bye bye water. There's two grooves on the sides up there where the roof rack is part of and w/o an blower, the minute I move the truck foward or backwards, water starts dripping down. I don't remember my model, think its just a redo Toro from Sears.

Thatll never happen. Ive only seen 1 neighbor wash his own cars. Badass viper and old 70's camaro. Filled with swirls Im sure.

Yea, I have gotten alot of guff from my GF for buying a blower.
She says, " Mike bought a hair dryer for his car!?"
Once I tell people why I use it, the ones that wash their cars understand.
And used a blade on my old truck. Everytime I used I was very afraid.
Now I blow all excess water off, and dry w/ a guzzler and QD.
 
I'm so glad to have read this. I was going to purchase one (gel blade) but Lord knows my car has enough scratches already.

I told my hubby I want one - meaning I want him to pay, not me or us - he just looked at me like I flipped and asked what for. This shows how well he listens, as I have told him plenty of times before, so I proceeded to tell him once again how beneficial and time saving it would be to all of us. No response......:(

And we currently have a fleet of four, not including my son's car in addition, and they are all kept clean - to varying degrees-(my son is a teenager) with AG products!;)

No leaf blower less I go buy it, and well, we need a new dryer and a major roof repair, so....:( :( :(

Dont expect miracles with the blow side of the metro it will take you forever you would be better off using a compressor trust me I have both.
 
I ended up buyin a Shop Vac that has a detachable blower. It's really nice because when you detach the motor housing, it's just the top of the shop vac with two handles on either side. Makes handling the gyroscopic forces a lot easier, not to mention being compact.

I sometimes blot with an Absorber. I'll unfold the thing outta the tube container and very carefully lay it flat on the paint, then peel off. It usually leaves a nice layer of water that is easily wiped off with a MF towel.
