Thoughts on website

I actually downloaded the software but couldn't install it as it wasn't a compatible win32 software or something like that...I won't bother finding out. Best for you to have your site done so it's easily viewed by your customers.

Having said that, how many of you (professional detailers) here actually make your own websites? Do you have the time and knowledge/skill to get it done? Or do you get someone to do it.

Maybe you could post your sites here so we can see what kind of results we can get doing it ourselves versus having a pro do it.

I think this is a good idea for those considering the different paths. If not just disregard this suggestion. Thanks guys.

The simple websites I see listed on here are easy to layout. The tough part is graphics. Most people that don't build websites don't difference pretty from functional.

So if you know how to register with go dadaddy and upload files, you can download something free like Visual Web Dev and figure out how to create a simple HTML website.

Or also there are a lot of templates out there you can buy fairly cheap. Then hire somebody to create your graphics for you if you want to snaz it up.

I'm more about functionality. I had in mind building a lot of functionality that is a lot less time with Silverlight but I've got into other projects now.

I'd still say for detailing, the majority of business you're going to want is going to come from referrals.

I just redid my site recently too. I opted away from any flash. I've seen some really nice detailing sites with flash but the load time is a bad trade off to me.

I would go with a fairly simple design that makes a good impression without getting too flashy. JMHO.

Concentrate on your wording too. Use keywords that will get your site on the first page of any search results.
