One thing AutoGeek needs to start considering is that all their customers don't live on the East Coast!:bash:

I ordered something for a "Father's Day gift during the Father's Day sale to now find it shipped out Monday for an 18th delivery date ..... AFTER FATHER'S DAY! How NIce is that?:dunno:

Guess if they were just looking for an excuse for a sale, fine. If they were actually suggesting that AG was a great place to buy DAD, Grandpa, or Father in law a gift for father's day, then the least they could do, during a FATHER'S DAY Sale is make sure IT'S THERE BY FATHER'S DAY!

I'm a big fan of AG but I feel they really dropped the ball on this! Next time I will call in my order instead of placing it on the Internet and cancel it unless they guarantee on time delivery.
Sure I could have paid extra ( if i would have known it would not make it) but AG could run a sale in a timely manner to get products to their customers for the date that they are having a sale for. Very disappointed!:(

Not to be a negative nacy, but ...

That is also something we as consumers need to take into account when ordering, where is the product coming from. There is more than one shipping option, and yes we all want "free" or "cheap" shipping. AG has no idea of the intent of your purchase when you order, reqardless of what holiday it might be.

I don't know when you ordered the product, but I do know there is shipping options on the website when ordering, something to look at and confirm if you are ok with the slow boat, or need an upgraded shipping method.

I am willing to bet had you called it in, even late that someone in customer service would have worked with you to get you the product in the timley manner.

Clearly we wait for a sale to get the best deal. Clearly AG has sales around events to make sales. Why would a person order an item on sale only to add expensive sipping to make it the same price as it always is?

What good is a sale if you end up paying the same price or a higher price to get the products?

Sure, I could pay for the higher priced shipping, I could also buy from a closer supplier, I like and support AG they have earned my business.

My point is they need to have a "sale" that a lot of people buy gifts for, Father's day, christmas, things like that, at a time if someone orders on that sale they can get the item in time for the event! If this sale would have been simply ran the week before instead of the weekend before Father's day there would have been no issue!:dunno:

Understood, as do we all. AG has no idea of your intent, gift, personal use, etc. Knowing when you ordred, and when you needed it, you should be able to make a proper judgement call.

If it's too much for the added cost, then it's a decision to source locally, or via a different route.

I have to think when you placed the order, you would have been able to see the order date, and the delivery method, which should allow you to somewhat determine the delivery time frame. If it wasn't to par, and you needed a quarantee, I would have picked up the phone and asked, "What can brown do for me today"

I think that the sale being a week in advance is more than fair on Autogeek's part. As consumers, we have to do some calculating on our own.

I often order from another site specifically because of the time it takes to receive shipments from AG as well as better shipping promotions (lower minimums).

So I looked up the "exact" time the order was placed. 11:24 AM Friday June 8th. Shortly after the sale was announced.(or at least after I got the email)

The order just before this was shipped to me and delivered in a total of 5 working days including the day of order. Using the same time line this should have been delivered in time.

I think where the problem lies is, the the sales are usually on
Friday through Sun thus are not picked up until Monday night making them not really on their way to the customer until Tuesday.

If the order was say placed on Thursday the product would be picked up Thursday and on its way Friday. clearly my order was not packed and loaded on the truck until the weekend putting it behind. If it would have been packed on Friday then no problem! There is no way for the customer or AG to know how many orders are going to be placed and how long it will take to get any particular order packed and loaded on the truck.

If AG would start Sales on Wednesday then we (west coast peeps) would get orders by the end of the next week ( like my last order). If I'm not diligent enough to order in a timely manner for a sale then that's my fault but if I dont have the opportunity to do so then they should consider adjustments!

Or shipping costs are prohibitive to the west coast so I look for shipping deals and sales to offset. Without the sales and shipping deals I would not be an AG customer (I'd hate that because they are an awesome company, great customer service and prefer to shop here).

Simple adjustment to their business plan can make a huge difference to West Coast and other distant customers!

Or you could of gotten your dad something else. You cant blame ag for your own mistake. Knowing that you live on the west coast and how long it takes anything to ship. You should of thought ahead. Either way you are going to get it and I'm sure your dad will be happy even if it is a couple days after.

Is the time of 11:24 pst or est? If pst, that may be why your shipping was delayed. Not sure what Autogeek's cutoff time is for same day shipping, but for most companies, it's roughly 2:00. The order would have to be processed and packed by that time.

They should do set amounts for certain shipping terms. I have an online skateboard company that does these kind of deals during holidays.

For instance 5$ 2nd day air and 12$ next day air. I'd rather pay 12$ for next day then to have to wait a week for free. This would be so awesome :)

The additional shipping options are there at checkout. Some just don't want to pay the additional cost. Continental ground shipping is usually stated as 3 to 7 business days, so if you're on the opposite side a the country, it's reasonable to think that you'll be on the longer side of that time frame.

Since OP ordered on Friday the 8th, he has every reason to believe it would be delivered by the following Friday, the 15th, unless it was ordered late Friday. That's one reason I only like to shop with FedEx, as they move and deliver on Saturdays. Then again, I opted for FedEx on my last order with AG, and I guess they're not used to it, but it was delayed several days because apparently FedEx shipping doesn't go through the same computer as UPS, I don't exactly know, but no AG is not always correct, they did call me and tell me what was going on after I called to inquire why I never got a tracking number sent to my email.

I really like how the peanut gallery runs to AG's defense like they can do no wrong, no matter what, it's always the customers fault somehow.

Move. :dunno:

All kidding aside, it sucks, but east coast people have the same issue with west coast companies. The only thing I can think of is, Father's Day comes around every year at the same time and AG has several sales before that date. Order early, maybe with the Memorial Day sale.

:iagree: Good suggestion.

Here's an excerpt from Autogeek's UPS shipping terms from the customer service page on the website. I've highlighted the point of interest.

Please note that shipping on oversized, case lots, bulk items or heavy items may be higher than these prices. Due to federal regulations orders with aerosol items are not permitted to go air. Orders shipping within the continental US (48 states) must placed by 11:00 a.m. EST to ship out the same business day. Not available for oversized and custom items, hot water extractors, complete wash systems, special order items and vacuums.

The OP's purchase time was after the cutoff time.

Not defending Autogeek, but some of us should spend a little more time reading before complaining, especially about something that's being provided "FREE".

Let me make something clear here! I'm not blaming AG for this except for not having a bit bigger window to place orders in for a timely delivery to far away customers!

AutoGeek or it's employee's didn't do anything wrong!

I do take issue to the above statement! Do you read all the fine print before ordering? I wouldn't be saying anything different if I had ordered @ 10:55, they only have so many people to process orders and those people can only process so many orders in a day. AG can't know day to day how many orders they will get.

TRUST ME, Free shipping isn't FREE! We all pay for it when we buy products. The "free" shipping only makes the products more reasonable and makes me add things I probably don't need. (don't tell my wife:D) Nothing is "Free".

I don't go looking around the Internet looking for the best price and worry about saving $.15 I patronize AG because they back their products and I'm willing to pay up for their customer service.

The reason (not that it matters) I didn't order earlier was. My wife ask me to get her dad something for his RV and cars for Father's Day on Monday the 4th, knowing AG would have a FD sale I said sure honey! Didn't know I needed anything before that. If you take a look at the unpacking thread I did place an order on Memorial Day and I would have just added his items to that order if I had known.

Again, not blaming AG for anything but "asking" them to consider widening their sale windows for distant customers!:dblthumb2:

Don't know exactly what Detail-Stuff you ordered for your Father during AGO's 2012 Father Day Sale...
But do you have any unopened, duplicate products (or other not-needed-right-away detailing supplies, for that matter) in your personal 'Detail-Cabinet' that could be, say, for a lack of better term:

"Re-Gifted"

If so...replenish them when your latest AGO order arrives...
And...If you do...I promise I won't be a blabber-mouth...Your secret is safe with me!!
