Curious to see what most people in South Florida have for % of tint darkness on there cars.

Feed back please

I think I have 15% just a hair under legal, but dont tell anyone! :o

My biz partner got 5% all around...and got pulled over the same day lol.

I think I have 15, I would not want any darker. It's nice to see be able to see out your windows at night.

I think it's the front windows/winshield that cops look out for, as far as rear - they just don't care.

I drove around So Flo with 20% never had a problem.

LOL! Ouch.
Yeh that was a bad day, brand new Lexus, got it that day. Get's tint put on and got pulled over and ticketed, and then on the way home some debris fell off a truck which he hit cracking and scratching the right front corner of the car, didn't even have 20 miles on it yet lol.

So is the lower the % number less dark or more dark? If it's less he was having a bad day.

lower the % the darker, can't remember what the legal limit is in FL, something like 20 or 30%?

Talk about a bad day.

Legal limit is 35% front, 20% rear. My window tint was a gift from my father-in-law. So I had to go where he paid for. They were quiet strict about the percentage. Probably because they did alot of cop cars in town ;)
Now that I think about it, the day I went and picked my car up car, there were two deputies waiting to pickup.

HOW DARK CAN WINDOW TINT BE IN FLORIDA?

Darkness of tint is measured by Visible Light Transmission percentage (VLT%). In Florida, this percentage refers to percentage of visible light allowed in through the combination of film and the window.

Windshield Non-reflective tint is allowed along the top of the windshield above the manufacturer's AS-1 line.
Front Side Windows Must allow more than 28% of light in.
Back Side Windows Must allow more than 15% of light in.
Rear Window Must allow more than 15% of light in.

Funny I have 5% on my stang now, never got any beef from Mass Staties or BPD.

But FHP loves me! lol

City/County don't care...

I 3> FHP..

15-16% all around ... legal in Florida is 20% rear windows and 35% front windows. Only rear cargo vans and hatches can go lower.

Meghan's chart appears correct online, but not the numbers Tint World offers and makes you sign for initially.

California 70%. Must be so we can see if we're about to be shot.

How do you (or the cop that pulls you over) determine what your tint % is?
