I'm reaching out to you seasoned detailers for some tips and advice.

I am going to have a booth set up at a VERY reputable performance shop at their 5th annual open house /dyno day. Last year there was well over 600 in attendance, and this year they're trying to double it!

I will have a black gtr, white Porsche, and a blue 1series BMW.

I will be offering "show only" packages, that must be paid in full day of to get that pricing.

Since announcing setting up a booth I've had 3 inquiries about services before the event. So this should be a pretty big jump in business, considering I've done 5 cars for this shop and gained 6 clients directly from posting the 5 shop cars.

I'm thinking about bringing a dark colored vehicle to do a 50/50 on the hood and set up lighting to show the difference.

But anything else would be great for advice!

I think you might have a hard time getting people to spend the full amount on the spot and therefore might miss opportunity. Perhaps requiring a deposit to get the discount price would be less commitment for them. Limit the time discount is good for and offer to credit that amount to toward any other service at regular price after that period.

See about developing a mailing list; have peeps fill out cards with their phone, e-mail and detailing service interests.

One would think that, but last year over 25k was generated for paid in full deals the shop had.

This shop is known for their "top shelf or nothing" motto, and anything they recommend or vouche for is pretty sought after with their clients.

They do quite a bit of gtr/Porsche and a TON of sti/Evo.

Being how 90% of my clients are car enthusiasts, this is an absolute amazing opportunity.

Do you have any test panels with 50/50 paint correction?
Maybe some plaques next to the cars with "easy to understand" explanation of how their car can benefit from your service.

Sounds like you hit a gold mine. Hope it all goes smooth for you.

I've been quite successful with my "out of the box" tactics. But this could be the start of something HUGE.
I was thinking of doing 50/50 on the hood of the black gtr.

It's a very good idea and you will get some clients, although might be a little difficult for them to pony up cash before services are done.Im not being rude to you so don't take this personal, paying up front seems a little shady.just make the best out of the show and they will always remember you.

Here is what I did at car shows:
1. Black 50/50 hood
2. Always had a car or 2 i had polished.
3. Do a quick car care demo. Contributing to the event makes you seem more than you just want to make money.
4. Have anything to giveaway? Decals?
5. I had show prep kits i sold with a few nice MF towels and and a small bottle lf detail spray.
6. Do a drawing to giveaway a coupon or a free service. This builds your email list.

Normally I would agree, but the shop hosting this open house 110% vouches for me. There's only three or four vendors going to be there. And it's companies that the shop uses exclusively for the services offered from said vendor.
It's a pretty unique situation, since it's not really a car show. It's an open house for the shop, and nearly 1200 expected to be in attendance.

Thank you! I feel as if my "outside the box" approach is what brought me much of my success since beginning this journey in August! Especially being in the "cold" winter months.

Bring a TV or monitor and show off your work through photos. Or go old fashioned and make prints of your work.

I'm guessing the GTR is a drag car? Give us some numbers, hp, torque, 1/4 mile?

The TV monitor is a perfect example of what I'm looking for! Awesome!

As for numbers and times, I'm not too sure. I do know the shop owners sti traps 148mph letting off just after the 1/8th lol
Not only do they have a flush in ground awd dyno cell, they have a flush alignment and corner balance machine, a clean room for engine builds, they also do in house cnc part building, full track car builds, roll cages, ect.
Ill upload some more pics in a few.

How about bringing some tools/products of the trade to use as props? Potential customers can not only see the results (50/50 of the hood or pictures) but see the professional line up of the tools/products you use.

Oh my tools will be there :)

Make a looping slide show showing the "before & afters." Rent or bring a 50" or larger TV. Add cool music????

Definately have a giveaway (like was said - COLLECT e-mail addresses for newsletters, specials, etc.). People like to win stuff.

Consider doing some live demos (either on a test panel or a real car).

HTH. Let me know if you need help... sounds like an incredible event for you.

Best wishes!

- Allan

Thanks for the tips man! Will definitely be updating this as I put things together. I've gained 34 new likes on my fb page since we've been spreading the word, and a few dozen followers on ig. Hopefully it pans out the way it's lining up to!
