I've got a car in with a felt like gasket around the sun roof covered in lots of fine lint on the exterior. Black seal white lint looks terrible! It somewhat comes lose if I rub it with my finger nail but it's quite embedded and time consuming. Any tips for removing the lint in an efficient manner? Was thinking maybe a careful application with some kind of pet hair brush or tool?

You could wrap some duct tape around your hand and pat it off. Or vacuum it off.

Lint roller. Works wonders for dog hair on seats as well.

Thanks guys... but I have already tried a few types of tape, duct and gaffers with poor results. Lint brush wont work as there is no room to use it. Vacuum should work but all my vacuum tools that small don't have a brush on the end and I tried without the brush attachment with much success. Problem is that being some type of felt the lint is intertwined with the felt like fibers. Looks like it will need some type of brush. Going to try a semi stiff small brush next as there is not much room to work specially on the leading front edges due to the way the roof opens.

I got a little rubber brush thingy at a local store that is supposed to be for dog hair removal that is FANTASTIC at removing lint, pine needles, and of course pet hair from carpets. Might give something like that a try...

Without seeing it, this might not be a practical suggestion, but what about some black colorant, shoe polish, magic marker or fabric marker? (in other words, if you can't remove it, blend it in)

Short of that...a pair of tweezers and a lot of patience?

Try wearing a rubber/latex/nitrile glove and rubbing over the felt with your fingers. Works well for loosening dog hair. ;)

Was thinking pet hair brush or tool of some kind but seem to have miss placed mine. Used the small stiff brush and that seemed to help a lot so I am going to give it another run through with some latex gloves. Thanks for the ideas everyone. I still can't help but thinking there has to be a quicker and easier way to bang this out next time.

:iagree::iagree:

This is my method also! I wear a glove on one of my hands and rub the lint/hair. This will cause the lint/hair to stick together and form a ball. I follow right behind that with my vaccum in my other hand!

Works like a charm everytime!

I think i know what you mean,My wifes 750i has those felt seals along all the door seals.I usually use my nitrale gloves and bunch up as much as I can,and the use the vac to suck the the bunch.Its really a pain in the ass,I thinks the Mecedes have the same thing.

2011 Chevy Cruze also has felt door seals. At least it's not around the sunroof like the OP. I guess it helps keep it quiet? It's a pretty silent ride even at highway speeds. I would appreciate an easier solution to the washmitt lint problem as well. Guess I should invest in a chenille washmitt to prevent further lint buildup. Do the chenille ones not shed lint like white microfiber ones do? Maybe a black one at that in case they do.

:iagree: the cheapest and easiest method. put the glove on and use your hand to sweep the lint into a pile. in your other hand hold the shop vac hose and suck everything in the pile up. :dblthumb2:

Going to try the tip of using a Nitrile glove to push it and gather. Anyone else have some cool tools to help? Here's what im dealing with https://imgur.com/a/6SeTl Its along side the whole side window bottom felt.
Came from an eagle edgeless microfiber.
