Tire Cleaner Advice

Another vote for LA.

I was a dyed in the wool Blech-Whit user for years until the formula change.

How many applications is it taking to get all the brown out?

I don't really ever put dressing on my tires. My tires were last cleaned/dressed with Mothers Back to Black Renew a month or so ago. I picked up a bottle of Eagle One tire cleaner and had a go.

10 applications per tire and I was still coming up with just a faint hint of brown.

Am I being too critical? Or should the foam truly be white?
 
I use this. I get it from the local detailing truck that stops at my dealership. Works great. This may just be a local brand though.
 
Zep 505, you can get it at any home depot, or lowes. It foams up and turns brown depending how dirty your tires are. The first time I used it I had to do each tire 3 times. I thought the apc I was using was cleaning my tires, but not even close. Now I use it once, and when I'm done my tires are so clean it looks like I have a dressing on them.
 
Meguiars M39 is a top shelf product for cleaning rubber tires. It doesn't leach out the tire's additives like some of the other wheel-tire cleaners out there.

This works ok. I find D143 to perform better as a tire cleaner.
 
The browning is called blooming and is caused by using harsh tire cleaners and some solvent based tire dressings.
These harsh cleaners and dressings are leaching out the UV and ozone blockers to the surface of the tire causing excessive browning.

That's why I use M39. If you are getting a bunch of brown out of your tire with a cleaner you are leading it to premature failure. Get a different cleaner. One of the bad ones that comes to mind is Eagle ONE A-Z wheel and tire cleaner. Nasty on tires. Great for getting wheels clean although.
