I am new to the world of detailing. After a lot of reading and the recommendations from the folks here I have completed a couple of detailing jobs on my autos and I am pleased with the results I have obtained with the cars appearance except the tires. Please help a newbie decide what I need to use to do an outstanding job on the wheels and tires. I like "new" look rather than overly shiny. Thanks in advance for the recommendations.

I ordered the wolfgang tire care kit from AG. It seems to do just what you are asking for.

I use the spray, wait 30-45 seconds, agitate withe boars head brush and then rinse off. I use v7 on the wheel and then the wolfgang tire gel on the tires. They both work well and leave a pretty nice finish that isn't overly glossy.

We put about 400 miles a week on our cars and I've noticed that anything that is on the wheels has just rinsed off. After two weeks of this I haven't had to use the wheel clean again, just rinse and re-apply v7 and the tire gel.

These top 2 work very well for a no shine and both repel water and all of these last a long time. They are also cheap enough to give a try.The third # 253 is shinier though not disgustingly shiny. What kind of wheels are you speaking of, chrome, painted, bare aluminum, clear coated aluminum etc. ? The last is a very good tire cleaner that works as well as anything else I have tried.

IMO Tuf Shine products are the best for tires:xyxthumbs:
If you don't want a coating type product and prefer tire dressings, many good products out there to try like PERL, Opti-bond, UTTG...
The trick is you have to get the tire very clean before you apply the dressing (or coating), you have to spray tire cleaner (or any good APC) on the tire then scrub with tire brush then rinse, and repeat again many times (depending on how dirty is the tire) until the cleaner you spray stays white and doesn't turn brown while scrubbing then the tire is ready for coating or dressing..
