Tire Gloss

Best I've ever tried and now use is CG's Super VRT, can't beat the price and it last along time.
5 Star product IMO
A little goes a long way, it's water based and has UV protection.
I'm ordering a gallon of it next time.

I hope it doesn't rain around you.

Yeah that's a good point. After a rain it's practically gone. I still like it at 1:2 for tires and wells. I wash and dress my tires once a week anyway so durability isn't an issue to me really.

I just can't find a product that wants to stick to my tyres. I've tried a lot of different products and after applying, it looks all blotchy and not good, the tyres are cooper discover AT3's ...any advice on what to try,

have you tried PERL?

I guess Im the only one that doesn't understand why you would want a dirty car and your tire dressing still in place?

I wash my truck after a rain, so I my tires and wheels get cleaned and dressed again.

No have not tried that pearl is it expensive?..

The PERL is rougly $16 bucks for a 500ml. Costs .50 cents per ounce diluted.

The Hyper Dressing cost 14 cents an ounce mixed one to one.

Call me crazy but I still like shiny tires. IMHO I find matte tires on a highly polished car just bring the whole look down.

I agree completely. Lots of detailers these days like the matte/natural look on tires (maybe because they associate shiny tires with solvent based dressings?).

IMO, glossy tires make the whole detail "pop." To my eyes, it looks like the detailer forgot to dress the tires if they are matte. However, as was already mentioned, it's all a matter of personal preference.

FWIW, I have tried the following tire dressings:

1. Optimum Opti-Bond: looks are good, but you need multiple coats to get a decent, lasting shine. Even with 2 or 3 coats, my tires look matte less than a week after dressing no matter how I prep them.

2. Megs Hyper Dressing: I used it at 1:1 and gloss was great right after application. However, the next morning the shine was significantly reduced and it died a little more each day. I also don't like that it's a spray/liquid. I prefer gels. They are easier to work with.

3. CarPro PERL: Roshan recommended this to me in another thread and I'm glad he did. I tried it undiluted and it's by far the best tire dressing I've used. After 3 weeks, the shine is still very much present, albeit slightly faded.

Pinnacle Black Onyx tire gel is the best I've ever used, period! Right there iin the running is DP tire gel and Wolfgang Black Diamond.

Sent from my SPH-M930 using AG Online

Yay! Im the MAN

I have found that I can push it to 4 to 5 weeks before I don't like the look anymore. Past 4 weeks it goes matte and you and I don't like that look ;)

PERL straight will beat anything for high gloss. Period.

My Favorite Tire Dressing - YouTube

Maybe on some tires. For me undiluted Hyperdressing is much shinier than undiluted Perl. I also think Megs Endurance has more shine than Perl.

Is anyone getting Perl to last past a couple of drives in hard rain?

I'm with the OP, I _LOVE_ glossy black tires. Endurance lasts longer than anything else for me BUT its a mess to clean, especially with a rinseless wash. You trash a MF rag. Hyperdressing is cheap, seems to last longer the more time you use it as well. I can get past one or two rainstorms with it, similar to Perl or Optibond.

This weekend I did a little comparison between Opti-Bond and PERL. I cleaned the wheels, wells, and tires with Megs APC+ (10:1) and the Mother's wheel, well, and tire brushes (my usual regimen).

I then applied PERL (undiluted) on the front two wheels and Opti-Bond (undiluted) on the rear two wheels. It's only been 3 days, but so far I don't see a huge difference. IME, the opti-bond should start fading to matte in a week or so.

I agree, both look pretty similar though Perl keeps getting glossier to a point of you keep applying. Optibond doesn't get better with more applications for me.

I've tried sooooo many and always go back to ultima tire and trim guard plus :)

Adam's Super VRT, followed by Mothers FX a close second. Neither one has much sling if you apply them right.

I haven't really tested it, but my observations seem to agree with yours on this. If Opti-Bond is picking up gloss with subsequent applications, it's not as noticeable as with PERL.

In terms of gloss, I can believe you. In terms of durability, PERL has ALWAYS been a better option in my opinion.

I easily get 4 weeks in hard rain just about every day. Easily.

Hyper Dressing lasts 1 week max in the same conditions.

Am I the only one who has Mr. Cartoon's Sanctiond tire glaze? It's good enough for Snoop. Who's going to argue with that?

Stop your snickering, it's actually a decent product that lasts after a rainstorm. I decided to try it due to all the great reviews on amazon. If you like Meg's endurance then I'd give it a try.

I haven't tried Meg's hyper at full strength, but that sounds interesting. 1:1 didn't impress me too much.
