One of the problems I ran into looking for that same device is that most of the ones that combine the two types of power sources are not very good.

I ended up with a VIAIR 85P and picked up an extension socket for my cig lighter with optional alligator clips.

You could also pick up a relatively robust high power AC to DC power supply. Keep in mind that the compressor sucks down a pretty high amount of current.

I went thru this recently. I finally decided on this one at amazon:

Bon-Aire i8000 Goodyear 120-Volt Direct Drive Tire Inflator

So far, I'm happy with it. I couldn't find one I liked that did both 120 volt and 12 volt.... If you find it necessary to plug it into the car, you can buy one of those 12 volt to 120 volt converters I would think.

I have two pumps that I use regularly, both are Craftsman. One is 19.2 Volt cordless that works great on bikes and balls. The other is a plug in inflator that works wonders on cars. I bought the larger inflator when most gas stations started charging for air.

Black and Decker had one on Amazon that did both alternatives. the reviews were mixed. thanks for the replies.

Paul, are you planning on using this for pumping up tires or were you thinking of perhaps attaching an air gun to it? Typically, these units do not provide compressed air in volumes and take quite a bit of time to pump up a tire...
