Tire Shine Showdown

I think gels are more convenient. You do not have to worry about covering up your wheels or where its going. You put it on the applicator and put it where you want it. I remember seeing people with cardboard cut-outs to cover their wheels while they sprayed their tires. With gels, you do not have to worry about the extra trouble.

Yeah but...if I have a liquid dressing like Pb's BnB or Opt Tire Shine, I still spray it on the applicator and wipe it on the tire :dunno:

I honestly prefer PERL over those, it lasts alot longer and with three coats its gives a nice "wet" look but not so that its like megs hot shine, just right. Thats my .02 anyways.

As I mentioned I am curious to see how PERL stacks up. Since so far, I am most satisfied with the Wolfgang I am going to do another test in the future with PERL and I have someone sending me a sample of OPTI-BOND. Again, my goal is not to try to say this one is better then that but simply to figure out which I like best for my application and inform you all on my process to help others with making a decision as to what they might like to use and experiment with.

Wow Mike. Great article that you put together for us.

Im starting to move more into the Wolfgang line as most of their products are top notch.

Thank you sir. I look forward to updating you all on the progress and then having another test with my favorite of these 3 and 2 other products. I want to make this comparison as extensive as I can with the most popular/talked about products

I've never been a fan of gels ... What's the benefit over a wbd spray dressing ? They both are wb so I can see what the adv wld be....

Maybe you are thinking gels as in the classical form. These don't "look" like a gel IMO.

:iagree:

Me too, mine smells and has the consistency of a thick blueberry milkshake. Either way, you still have to spray it on the applicator.

Look forward to seeing it

In my experience the applicator makes a huge difference. The Cobra tire dressing applicators are the best. I agree that the Wolfgang is a great product but I also like DP as well.

I have the old black fire gel and it slings.. I use opti bond diluted 1 to 1 through a 12$ mini hvlp gun from hf. Its pretty shiny compared to when I wipe it on..

Sprays are a LOT easier to use on knobby truck tires.

I've tried several gels and applicators, but keep coming back to a spray like Megs Hyper Dressing or PB's B&B which I find a lot easier to get into the raised letters and edges of the tread.
