APC (all purpose cleaner) and a tire brush to clean,then follow up with your favorite tire dressing for the shine.

Not sure what kind of shine your looking for but here's a few:
Wolfgang Black Diamond Tire Gel this thick gel penetrates beneath the surface to give your tires a long-lasting true glow!
Pinnacle Black Onyx Tire Gel dresses your tires in a dark, satin finish that protects the rubber for weeks! This tire dressing and protectant enhances
DP Gloss Tire Gel penetrates deep below the surface to hydrate and refresh dull, dry rubber.
Optimum Tire Shine is a glossy, protective tire dressing for all exterior rubber trim, tires & moldings. Get the optimum shine on your car's tires!
Optimum Opti-Bond Tire Gel, Tire gel protectant, OPT Tire Dressing Gel, protect tires, optibond tire gel
Griot's Garage Weatherproof Tire Dressing, Griots Garage Tire Gel, Weather-proof tire dressing
Four Star Ultimate Tire Protectant Spray
3M Tire Restorer Tire Dressing, 3m 39042, tire protectant, rubber dressing, tire shine

and there is a ton more tire dressings availible.
 
For real bad dirty tires, "Bleche-Wite" other wise as I wash the vehicle the last of the bucket along with a medium soft brush. I'm still using the old Meg "Endurance" gel (not to shiny, not to dull).

For tire dressing I use these;


  1. Pinnacle Black Onyx
  2. Wolfgang Black Diamond Tire Gel
  3. DP Gloss Tire Gel
  4. Optimum Opti-Bond Tire Gel
I've listed from 1 to 4 for level of glossiness.

All of these are superb performers with the "more glossy" going to Pinnacle and Wolfgang. Now this glossiness is not the wet shine you might be thinking of if you've ever used something like Meguiar's "Hot Wheels" tire spray.

While either the Pinnacle or Wolfgang are applied they do give off that wet appearance but as the product soaks into the rubber it tends to tone it down to a nice black satin finish. I apply all my tire treatments with a brush and a foam sponge.

DP Gloss Tire Gel goes on buttery smooth and dries to a deep dark rich blackness. It's has sort of a mint smell to it but goes away after it's dried.

Optimum Opti-Bond Tire Gel is another good performer but it takes a couple of coats to get it looking good. This gives what I'd call the flattest finish although it does look quite good but not as rich as the three above.
 
I clean with ARO and a brush as well.

I agree with the tire gels recomended above also.

Only thing I can add is that depending on the tires the gloss that you achieve will vary with some of these products.

I love the DP for the way it dries. Depending on the tire the level of gloss can very greatly with this one.

I also love my Ultima T&TG for tires (lasts forever) but doesn't sound like thats what you want since it is not a glossy finish. You can add a little gloss with additional coats though.

Recently I tried the Pinnacle Black Onyx (Thank you Tad!) and it really exceeded my expectations. It has lasted longer than I expected. On my Sky tires it is maybe just slighlty glossier than the DP tire Gel.

I love the Optibond as well, Haven't tried the Wolfgang.

DP and Ultima dry nicely and are my favorites...
 
Optimum Power Clean at full strength will blow right through the dirt and grime in your tires before applying dressing. Just make sure the tires are somewhat dry to get a nice even dressed look.

I usually apply tire dressing last out of everything.

I like the dressing above, but a dressing that is completely water proof or resistant that will stay put for over a month of driving in the rain I use 1z vinyl rubber care and protectant.

1z is not referred to much on this forum, but pretty much every product of theres I use , outlasts durability wise , the most popular choices.

I use this on my tires, trim, door seals, and rubber molding. basically the entire outside of the car's trim. I dont like using it on the interior. but if you like a dressed looking interior (low gloss), you can try using this on your door panels, as when rain comes in the window, it will bead up off of this dressing like you waxed your door panel.

I like working with gel or a tire dressing cream, and have been searching , trying and trying other products to replace this, but have yet to find one anywhere that has the same properties. I know chemical guys and Adams came out with a tire dressing that they claim to be water resistant, but its durability is terrible, and imo, its a poor case for water resistant after using the 1z product for so long.

Interesting, I'll have to try this 1Z EVR. I'd be willing to bet the Ultima T&TG will outlast it in durability though.

would make a great test/review. 1z has some potent polymers in this product.

Never heard of roll off befire. Where can I get it? Is this for all kind of wheels?

I used to use bleche-white to clean the tires but I would end up having to scrub the tires and I would go through a lot of it. I've found a wheel and tire cleaner that does the job quite well and is very inexpensive and lasts. Its called brown-royal. Its advertised as a "no scrub" rim and tire cleaner but I always scrub the rims only. Tires come out like they just were installed on the car. On my own vehicle I usually don't end up putting dressing on the tires because I'm not a huge fan of the wet look.
