To Glaze or To Compound year after year

Truthfully, one part i left out was that I caught him wiping his black toyota paint with a wornout stained terry rag that he retrieved from his trunk with a bottle of turtle wax stuff. Once I saw that' I paused and wondered if he would like an education about this.I guessed no, or he just coulnd'nt do it him self.
Maybe, I can introduce him to a less aggresive approach to wiping-down a car. IE better towels, waterless wases etc.

I just did my black Caddy this afternoon, with PB Blackhole and topped with 4star. This was my first time using this combo, and it won't be my last. Came out better than anything else I've used on black. I've used BlackLight too and find Blackhole is much better with shine and depth. Much cheaper as well. For now, this is my favorite combo for a quickie.

Furthermore, black hole is easy to work with using a DA. Used a speed of 2 with my Griots 6" and it went along quick. Easy to wipe off. Same for using 4 Star. Applied to the whole truck and came off with no work and no dust. Awesome stuff.

You'd probably have to enlighten him - if his goal is to keep his car in prime condition. If not, you'll be chasing his tail.

Griot's One Step polish & sealant what Griot's describes as ideal for that specific situation.

But Bob.....the Marketing Department says it lasts "6 months"

If it was my Friend....I would tell him not to touch it ever!

Then find out what he has to barter

Is he in a trade? Plumber, electrician, cook

Trade washes for something you don't like doing

Maybe his Wife.can come.over.and clean your house

I suppose the answer is because I think of AOI this way: If they were designed for multiple purposes, then they can't be really good at any of them. I really like AIO for door jambs, but I'm not aware that they have any fillers or substantial correcting ability (only enough to take a season's worth of swirls away, and no more than) outside of just chemical decontamination.
Are there any AOI with fillers?

New school time for thinking.

I am A fan of 3D HD SPEED. most amazing results, very lite correction, polish, and sealer. top that with Poxy and its bullet proof! (or go with a quartz coating)

If he is going to use the old rags,,, its gonna keep happening. even with nice stuff he will do it,, I have the same problem with my father in law, clean up his bike and give him MF and qd,,, and then it comes back trashed. i dont know how he is doing it. maybe too much agression on the qd.

Something like the Pinnacle XMT 360 or Optimum GPS might be able to change how AIO's are looked at. The only AIO I have experience with was the Optimum Poliseal and for its day it was pretty good. But these newer products are getting great reviews fir correction & protection. You mention this person is an important person to you, maybe you do an AIO every 6-months or so and get him a few MF's to keep in the trunk.

Without any assurance the swirls and scratches won't return after removal, i wouldn't correct them again. You are posing 2 questions though. My first sentence above is my opinion on the first question.

As it relates to removing clearcoat over the life of the vehicle it widely depends on what you are doing over the life of the paint. My 2007 black car has been "cut" twice a year (roughly) since 2007. In that time i firmly believe i have not reduced the clear layer enough to be concerned about failure. My "cuts" have been only enough to level the paint and remove the minor depth of scratches and swirls that inevitably appear after weekly washes, dries and QD. 7 years of weekly washes number somewhere near 364 times! Cut efforts are near 14-15 (2 x a year).

With that said, i do wish i baselined my paint thickness the day i brought it home. Then do it again today however my paint looks new. I don't think you'll jeopardize the thickness of clear over the life of the vehicle using the least aggressive methods applied prudently with the right tools, techniques and care.

Blackhole under Power Lock and 915 is insanely durable! I have that for 4 months of crazy rain storms, dust storms, sun, traffic, weekly washes on my daily and it still beads and looks like the day I applied it. 4 months later people still comment on how the paint glows and ask how I achieved such a wet look.
