What's the deal with these two 'Coatings' (as well as some others) having to have their
specific "primers" used on the vehicles' surfaces, before these 'Coatings' are applied?
:dunno:
Bob
I don't buy into any hype regarding durable fillers...Well, who would know better what the surface should be like before the coating is applied than the manufacturers? I think primer type products are a good thing. You only want to do it once, and some polishes may have durable fillers you may think you have removed.
I don't buy into any hype regarding durable fillers...
let alone any manufacturer's hyped-up claim of a "Coating primer".
How easily the trap is set, and, subsequently, how easily said trap is sprung!!
Note to Self:
Kinda funny that Opti-Coat Coating, among others, don't "need" a primer.
Just my opinion.
Bob
lol!is there a full moon out tonite?
Likely as they are sold to the layperson detailer, in order to assure correct adhesion they make a known "synergistic product" designed to promote the coating's success.
Mind you, it likely doesn't hurt their bottom line either.![]()
Opti-coat pro comes with a primer now.
I don't know all of the details on Modesta's primer. However, polishangel's Primer is non-filling but leaves behind the hardening agent for Cosmic. Cosmic does not harden in your applicator or towel, only on paint with 9H Primer. Cosmic 9H is a cream, not liquid like other coatings, it can be applied by DA if you want but I prefer using a foam applicator.
Primer is a very advanced polish which finishes down better & glossier than any other polish I have used. This is partly due to its unique abrasive particles. It's cut is close to Sonax Perfect Finish but finishes with less haze on softer paints. It can also be used before many of the other SiO coatings without the need for IPA or Panel Wipe (22ple, Cquartz, Gtechniq C1..)
No offense meant to you, but the latest run of Polish Angel promos you and the wilson guy are running are getting borderline Chemical Guys marketing hype-machine level.
I do have some questions about Polish Angel:
What test was used to determine the claimed 9H hardness of Polish Angel Cosmic? Was it the Pencil Test?
Here's Opti Coat's report, notice the use of the Tungsten Needle Test: http://www.optimumcarcare.com.au/XC3166CoatingTesting.pdf
Can you back yours up with an independent lab test?
Is there anything Polish Angel doesn't do better than every other product out on the market?
Do you use any other products than Polish Angel?
If it's made in Germany, why is named after the people of Poland?

-Makes me wonder if there ever really was the need for subjecting a vehicle's paintIt can also be used before many of the other SiO coatings without the need

To drive my point home, at least in this case:
This "primer" is then nothing more than just a hyped-up polish
-Makes me wonder if there ever really was the need for subjecting a vehicle's paint
to "panel-wipes", before some 'Coatings' applications in the first place.
-Makes me appreciate that Dr. G did not always promulgate such "harshness"
before applying Optimum's Coatings, that much more.
Bob
Somebody has really got you buff-alo-ed!!Primer's unique abrasives are titanium oxide along with aluminum oxide.
Most other manufacturers use aluminum oxide and do not use titanium
because of the expense involved in using it.
