To Wave or Not to Wave...

THANKS.........
A/G says there for the P.C. and recomend the 8" for the rotary, but I
wonder how the 6" would work with the rotary:confused:
I've been both the 8" and 6" Edge 2K pads on a rotary for well over a year. I definitely prefer the 6" pads when working on cars because they contour to the surfaces better and they fit better in many places. On the larger flatter surfaces, you'll get more work done quicker with the 8" pads and I still use them from time to time, but all I buy now are 6" pads and they work great for the PC or rotary. I've got some 4" Edge pads on order that should be here next week and I plan to use them with a rotary, PC and cyclo. I already use another brand of 4" pads and they work great, but these will be my first Edge 4" pads.

The only waves I've been using are from 3M and they've had the wave foam for a very long time. I've got 3M wave pads for years to come!

All my Edge pads are currently flat (not wave), although I do have some new 6" red waves coming to me this next week. For the PC, I think the 6" flat pads are the way to go. I have dozens of the Edge flat pads, but only because I bought most of them before they had the wave pattern. I'll probably integrate some Edge wave pads into my work as time goes on, but I really like the flat pads. Heck, I'm still using wool and really like my wool pads also.

iI Have the EDGE WAVE 8"s, im wondering now if i'd be better off with the edge 6" flat as a change off for tighter area's as you use, or the 6"wave:confused:

Having multiple sizes really comes in handy for me, especially with vehicles that have lots of contours or stipes. I use more green, blue and white pads than the other colors with blue being my most used color when working on autos. I don't know how this compares to other people.

Do you have the 6"waves or flat edge:)

All my Edge 2K 6" & 8" inch pads are flat. I have the new 6" red wave on order and it should be here next week, but that will be my only Edge 6" wave pad. The Edge wave pads were not available when I bought most of my Edge pads, otherwise I probably would have had some wave pads mixed in there to play with. The Edge flat pads work just fine for me, but I'm sure the Edge wave pads would too.

I need some real small pads for my rotary for tight spots.......my backing plate is 5" and i also have the edge 2k set up:confused:

Check out the Edge video where the guy is using a 8" flat pad on a rotary and doing fine hitting all the angles on that MB. And don't forget, Edge makes some nice wool pads too, FWIW - wool actually runs cooler than standard foam on a rotary. I e-mailed Aaron a while back and spoke directly to him too, he said he uses wool to correct and foam to polish, sounds OK to me.

I have both......LC 6.5 pads for my P.C. And the Edge 2k wave 8" pads for my rotary....

i love them both......L.C 6.5 pads for both machines and the Edge Wave 2K 8' for only the rotary....

The heat from the wave still works the polish fast. the 8" wave is recommended by ARRON from EDGE because 8" the spins faster than the 6' regular pad.. thus more breakdown area and not as hot with the wave

i love them both for what there used for........:) .......

Bill--I feel like I can talk to you. I am not an Edge fan--do yours leak greasy oil out of the hole at the top? Mine do. Do yours lose their shape/firmness? (i.e. the plastic separators break). I wanted to love these, but I have gone back to LC. Megs pads have not held up well.
