I agree . You have no error! I dont have a Flex so I cant tell how close pads will be to BP edge. 6.5 pads shouldnt be a problem with the Flex. You are taking a huge chance with using 5.5" pads with the Flex since the backing place is 5.5". I suggest you get all 6.5" pads.
I've used 5.5" pads on my Flex and while it is possible, I don't recommend it. 6.5" pads are better for the Flex.
Edit: I was not using the VC pads though...those do look safer.
Why do you not recommending them? Any other reason other than safety?
You have probably seen posts where GEWB trimmed his backing plate.
The VC pads are not 5.5-in despite their description. They are the same size as a 6.5-in pad. The advantage is the velcro side just fits the Flex backing plate better.

I use the VC pads w/my Flex and they work great, I wasn't to thrilled with CCS pads. The center of the pad would swell no matter what I tried. The VC pads never gave me any problems, nor do the regular flat LC pads. Both work great with the Flex I just liked the pocket VC pads have so the flex bp sits inside of.
