Mobile wheel repair is common and just as good. A local repair shop thats mobile here is the most popular one in town.I wouldn't go with mobile if you need perfect results. They need to refinish the entire wheel for best results. Keep sticking it to them.
BradsDetailing:
I did not read all the posts.
Did you by any chance buy your tires from TireRack and use their installer recommendations?
I know our judges here aren't very lenient and do not nit pick from my little experience in small claims.Hopefully you get Judge Judy.
Good luck with your case. I'm in the same situation and going to talk to th owner this weekend.
Of course - the average tire shop doesn't give 2 flips what they do to your wheels, it's about how little time they can spend on it so they can get to the next job. in this case, go home.
I always have the manager on duty come out and do a close-up inspection and I tell them outright 'if they don't come out looking like this there will be a problem'. I also have a sleeved socket to protect the barrels and insist on no air tools.
I've had 3 wheels REPLACED by these hack tire shops and I raise hell until they do so. No refinish talk either. It didn't come in looking like that so....
I now have 2 shops that I've established a rapport with and one specific person does the job at each one. No damage in 4 years and 3 sets of tires.
As these 2 shops have told me 'it can be done without damage, it just TAKES LONGER'.
Oh and the 2 shops are little non-chain places with nice prices.
These are the customers I'm not looking to work for. Too much of a PITA. We have replaced one damaged wheel without waiting to see if the customer noticed. It simply got damaged so we fixed it. But if someone is going to tell me how to do my job in this way they can go somewhere else. All that should be said is "please don't scratch the wheels".
