Each of you who runs a business knows that one of your largest expenses is labor. Yes, I know here on AG using "the least aggressive method" is drilled into our minds. But here's a question for those of you who are more production style than correction shops. My average ticket is $200-300. I rarely have customers (even ones with show cars or 100k+ vehicles) who are willing to spend more than 500 for a correction. Thus why I'm here asking this question.
What tools and products save you time on jobs?
What methods save time?
My go to for a major correction is FG400 and Rupes Fine polish. Yes, I have other products and do test spots on jobs over $300. I don't want a million different products because coming from a business mindset I focus on K.I.S.S. for my employees. The problem I have with FG400 is the diminishing abrasives, I work it out 5-7 passes to finish nicely. I feel a 2 step system (heavy cut not worrying about leaving micro marring, then finishing polish) would be good for less expensive corrections while still giving the customer the amount of correction they are looking for. Any suggestions for compounds? Thinking about going with SC300 or M101 and SF4000 or M205... I have a PE14, 3401, and LHR21 so I'm open to all products.
