Tools to Clean the Wheel

I'm confused! hahaha
I asked because at first I bought the Speed Master Jr. Wheel Brush in the hope that it would fit between the spokes, but it doesn't fit vey well, mainly at the top and bottom of the "in-between", and it ends not doing a good cleaning job.

I'll measure the width between the spokes and try to find out the width of the woolies. =)

Haha, sorry about that.

The fibers do compress pretty much down to the stem. I went and double check for you just in case. Unless they changed the material, the brush could pretty much squeeze through passages that the handle fits.

When it comes to brushes, IMO, it's better to have multiple. As awesome the Woolies are, there will be times you'd need other types to properly get the job done.

Hello guys

For some time I've been trying to find the right tools to clean my wheels. I use a detail brush for the spokes and an EZ Brush for the barrel. But I don't feel the detailing brush do a good work, as I have to spend a lot of time for the inner and fillets of the spokes, and the work isn't perfect. Would you guys recommend a better tools for these wheels I have?

Thanks!

I'm telling you... This tampico wheel brush is hands down the best brush of them all. Speed Master can't fit in here? Wheel Whoolie can't handle caked on barrels? These brushes can do it all.

You can spend $50 on a set of Whoolies and hope they live up to the hype... Or you can spend less than $10 bucks and get this no frills brush that simply gets the job done. Heck, I only pay $4 for these brushes. Lol.

But hey, the Whoolies are very popular so ultimately it's a tough decision...

lol Just saw your reply. I hope we're not confusing the man... haha

Sorry to confuse, they do compress but the stick limits it. I just stuck it in the vice and measured it, 1/2" once squished pretty tight just to give you an idea.

It's like sockets....

The ole's Sears will do, but you know you want some Armstrong....Mac...Proto...SK...Williams...Snappy...and hey, how about them impact ones? You know you shouldn't be using the chrome for that.

lol

Thanks guys, you're all very supportive as always
I'm gonna measure the gap between the spokes and see look at the woolies and the Tampico

I have wheels that have narrow spaces like yours, and my brakes dust like crazy (or used to before I switched to ceramic pads). I have an assortment of brushes, but have found for the faces of the wheel that the Boar's hair brush is the most effective. The bristles are perfect in terms of length and compression, which makes it perfect for getting the bristles into the narrow slots without having to use a smaller brush. It makes the cleaning easier for me; I barely use the small brush anymore. I still use the daytona's for the barrels and behind the spokes. The boar's hair is expensive, but it was absolutely worth it for me.

I always wondered if the boar hair brush could do that. Nice to know it works!

Do you dry your wheels with a MF cloth? Does it get dirty when drying the wheels after you used your brush?

I bought a few black MF towels that I always use for wheels. My wheels are coated, which helps keep dust from sticking or embedding itself into the wheel over time. I recently bought myself a new toy, the metro blaster sidekick that I am using for wheels and it has become one of my favorite detailing tools (toys in my case). I previously used a plastic "detailing stick" which is basically a plastic popsicle stick that I wrapped a MF over to dry in between the blades on my wheels, which was effective but time consuming. The metro blaster is light and convenient, no wheeling a big air blower around. Cannot recommend this product highly enough. It ROCKS!

I have a leaf blower that I used to use on occasion, but its way loud and I live in a condo complex so i have neighbors to consider. The sidekick isn't quiet, but its much quieter than a leaf blower and equally effective on intricate areas such as wheels, and it can get air into the wheel barrels and brake caliper areas.

wheel woollies are one of the best tools i ever bought.
love them and the best thing about them is they are useful for more than just wheels.
i also use them for very dirty trunk channels. or you can use them for inside door jams and where the hinges are. i love them. you have to get the set of 3
