This is quite old: they are now filming season 21.

Those guys rock! :xyxthumbs:

Definitely not my cup of Earl Gray. I have no use for presumptuous, smug foreigners who believe they have a monopoly on tolerance.

That's one of the funniest episodes and you do know they gave the cars away to needy people, right?

Not all of the cars went. If you check Google Earth, you can still see the Cadillac.

What a coincidence. I watched that very episode yesterday. I've been semi-binge watching since i discovered it a couple of months ago on Netflix streaming.

its clearly not staged, which is not something you can say about all of their escapades. They look really frightened. They were pursued for over two hours which I suppose means until they got to the Mississippi border.

They were uncharacteristically complimentary of their $1,000 American cars, (Clarkson makes little attempt to hide his Anti-Americanism). They should be, since all three went on a thousand mile road trip without breaking down.

I wouldn't be dismissive of their report. You know, we have become a very hard-bitten society in this country over the years.

Too funny!!!

I'm glad some people think it's funny. I was starting to wonder if the guys in the redneck truck were on this forum. You gotta wonder why anyone would care what is painted on anyone's car.

Take the emotion away and argue the points they make about Merican cars. Granted, our quality has GONE way up but that in and of itself says something, right?

There's one episode where they show how much flex is going on on the rear facia of a C6 Z06 and even 5th gear knocked the squeaks and rattles of the 427 convertable....sad but true and this is coming from a Corvette fan.

The fact is this, since the consumer hasn't demanded better, we got we got and only until recently because of additional competition, the quality has gone up to what it should from the greatest country on earth, we can do better and have been doing just that.....recently.

That's a classic! Top Gear is the only show on TV that I can watch re-runs of. Don't get me wrong, I am proud to live where I do but most of the stereotyps of Americans are spot on and very funny!!! I'm not the guy who will have an avatar with Bald Eagles clutching drones.;)

Considering they were trying to get each other shot or arrested...they almost succeeded.

Well, I'd say Clarkson's evaluations are so idosyncratic and chauvinistic as to be almost useless. That doesn't make it any less entertaining. I find myself running to the computer after the show to look up the euro models they test.

The American cars they test consistently smoke Clarkson's beloved Ferraris and other exotic cars around their test track. They can barely bring themselves to put the lap times on their board, merely commenting on flexy bumpers or whatnot instead.

One time they had of an F-150 Lightning (sold in the UK evidently, because it had a right hand drive) that didn't even get its lap time, despite its sporting pretentions. A Corvette smoking a Ferrari is bad enough. An F-150 hanging with an Audi or whatnot, would have been too much for them to bear.

Lap time for a Lightning....comparing it to an Audi, are you serious or do you live in Colorado? Now let's be serious here, that Lightning had/has MAJOR fit and finish issues, my God, I'm proud to be American but stop being so Merican! This is exactly why we get the rep we do, let's have some honesty here!

And feeds Top Gear with plenty of material.

Broadcasting from an undisclosed location.

You have to remember also the driving characteristics of European cars vs American cars. American sports cars are for the most part designed to be 1/4 mile cars, even the corvette up until the most recent offering, while European sports cars are made to handle incredibly well. A camaro, a mustang, or even a c6 or older corvette couldn't hang with a boxster around a corner but could kill one in straights.

Have you seen what the new Boxsters are putting down? Your right in your post for sure, no doubt about it but a sports car is a sports car, a muscle car is muscle car. That said a Corvette should've always been a handling car, period! Never understood draggin' a Vette anyways, its got IRS, not made for drag racing, if you wanna go and do that go and buy a Camaro, a car to go fast in a straight line and nothing else. Oh sure, the Z/28 and ZL1 can go around the Ring with the best of them for sure but noone is going to drop $75K, MSRP anyways, on a DD, you'd have a much more useable car with a Z51 C7 with money left over, plenty of money. Those "Barret-Jackson future mothball cars" do nothing for me, not into draggin' anymore, much more fun to go around corners and see the country....on a budget. I'm sure I'll get killed for saying this but if you had the set of keys to a Camaro SS or Fiat 500 Abarth infront of me for the weekend, I'll take the Fiat 500 Abarth and head to the Dragon thank you!

Fact remains: They were unwilling to give it a lap time and their policy is to do that for any sporting car sold in Britain tested on their program. I haven't seen them do that ever.

Yeah, the fit and finish were bad, but I figure that was mostly attributable to a cobbled together right-hand drive conversion. Its obviously a completely inappropriate car for 99.5 % of Britain, but they spent huge amounts of time making that silly point and 0% on the lap time.

Believe me, I've seen enough of Clarkson that he would love to have some fun with the Americans and their silly sporting truck with choice footage of the truck careening around the track--if he thought he could. I woldn't have blamed him if he did.

To be fair, they were complimentary to their $1,000 cars that were able to complete a 1,000 mile trip. Euros tend to grossly underestimate distances in the U.S. a 1,000 mile road trip is a production in Europe.
