Hey guys,

Couple of quick questions: Will topping Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant with a carnauba paste wax provide any better looks than just the WGDGPS alone? I hear that WGDGPS alone is pretty nice? If I do top the sealant can I still put down two layers of WGDGPS first and than top or would I just put down one layer of WGDGPS? I just dont want to remove any of the sealant while applying the caranuba. Any recommendations for a good nuba wax? I'm looking for mid price range maybe something like P21s concours carnauba?

Thanks,
Drew

Carnuba topper will make anything look better. Check out some dodo juice stuff. I like it alot.

PB Natty Blue looks great on darker colors.

I use two coats of sealant with 6-12 cure time each coat.

I don't think ANYTHING looks better than this sealer. The two others that might look as good are Black Fire, and the sealer by Menzerna (everything they do in compound/polish/seal is unreal).

On most paints sealers like these will have more gloss and a be smoother to the touch. And these 3 sealers do not give you any of the plastic artificial look that some of the others give.

Having said that, a wax on top of it will add depth and warmth and give you even more of that 50s--60s look that is beyond cool.

The question then is do you want higher slicker glass like gloss, or do you want depth and warmth. For me, I'll take these sealers by themselves. They are still very much wax like (warm and deep) but they give you an extra 10% in gloss and slickness.

In the end, I do not miss the wax look because I will get there in a month or so anyway. You know, when you think about it as detailers (our cars or the cars of others) we have two goals. Get the swirls and other defects out and make the finish look beyond hot (clay, compound, a few polishes, glaze, two coats of sealer, etc.), but then the more challenging part of all of this--keep it looking like that for 4 months till is time to do it all again. For me that means getting a great wax on top of the sealer after the gloss starts to die a bit (3 weeks, depending on how much the car is driven?). Then it means some spray waxes (I LOVE souveran for this!) and detailers (of course a weekly wash).

In conclusion, both looks are great, but I dig the slicker higher glass like finish that this sealer produces. I don't miss the wax because eventually I go to that look 3-4 weeks later. Between 4 weeks and 4 months waxing keeps it going, so at that point I enjoy the depth and warmth of wax on top of the sealer.

Hope this freakin long answer helps and was worth reading! LOL

By "detailers" I meant a QD. I like the carnauba based Pinnacle Crystal Mist, and the Black Fire deep gloss.

After putting 2 coats of sealant on the car would the mechanical action of applying the carnauba remove some of the sealant. I remember Mike Phillips saying something like this (I don't want to say what he said out of context so I could be wrong about this)

Thanks for the help. I had heard that the WGDGPS looks great on its own and you confirmed that!

Don't quote me on this but my understanding is that as long as you are using a pad with no cut (gray, blue, red for LC pads) that it's not supposed to. After seeing your comment though I'm curious as well if Mike actually did mention something like that.

:iagree: I finish with 2 coats of WGDGPS on my black C6. great gloss and slickness, I see no need to add a wax
