Tori's first lube change, with pics! ;)

Nice write up. Doing oil changes yourself, won't that void your warranty?

A service manager told me a long time ago to just save the receipts.

I use the Zip Lock trick as well. I change my own oil and I use Rhino Ramps instead of the Jack Stand method.

You should only tighten the filter 1/2 to 3/4 turn once the gasket contacts the engine. So hand tight is almost always sufficient.

Just wanna get in on this topic lol, I work at napa and my dad was the Regional Filters Sales Manager for the South Eastern region. He usto go around to the different oil manufactors an get samples of oil an send off to get analyzed an he told me never to run Castrol, He said that compared to the other synthetics out there it doesn't stack up. I personally run Mobil 1 right now but will be switching to Amsoil as soon as my store gets the display in. Although you said you change it at 3000mi so you should be fine. Ive changed mine religiously since 0 at 3500 mile intervals and I use the new Napa Platinum Filter, It is specifically designed for synthetics. It has a synthetic filter media an silicone seals an anti-drain back valves.

Yeah, there a million and one opinions on oil and oil filters. IMO, the important part is to CHANGE oil and filters...more so than the brand used.

First i gathered the gear. Yes, beer is a must.

Then I jacked at the following points, then used stands.

^^^^Good Combo...Floor-jack, jack-stands, and beer^^^^:props:

I don't remember what size the bolt was now... 14mm I think?

^^^^I Wonder Why!^^^^

Reset maintenance minder, and enjoy rest of beer!

Tadaaaaaaa. Then I went and changed the Marilyn's oil..

^^^^OMG!!!^^^^

Nothing against doing ones own oil-changes...

Just a friendly "fluid" reminder for other "do-it-yourselfers"!!
