Last night got just a little hairy... This video was take less than 2 blocks from my business and about a mile south of my house. The storm went though about 11:00 PM and was raining so hard you could see it but you could sure hear it. At the end of video is Waters True Value Hardware store. There was 31 house total leveled, lots of house that are not repairable - KSU college campus and one of grade schools took a direct hit.

Here is a video I shot this morning on the way to my business.

There was 4 boy scouts killed here in iowa from a tornado yesterday. The tornado picked up a semi and threw it into the building where the chimney fell on the four boys. A tragic event and I feel greatly saddened for their familys.

Yes I heard about that in the news. Chapman just down the road is 70 to 80 percent destroyed with 2 deaths. We had Zero deaths in Manhattan which is something with 31 houses total leveled and hundreds damage. We were really lucky!!!

This has been a very bad storm/tornado season for the US. Living in New Jersey we very rarely if ever have storms of the size other parts of the country have. Seeing film of tornados on the tv, my wife have often said to each other how horrible it must be to see a funnel of that size coming at your home. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the many families who have lost their homes, and even worse, a family member.

Glad to see that you folks are safe. We had some storms hit last night just outside the KC metro area.

Gallons of rain and lightning, but minimal damage here.

Toto (I think Dorothy already left the state LOL)

Good post......I am originally from Wichita KS and currently have a sister attending KSU she called me from the basement of the house her and her friends live in and I could hear the sirens going off she was preety freaked out.....After it was all done she said hundreads of people we walking around aggyville seeing what kind of damage had been done I glad no one was killed her house is fine also no damage.

Growing up in Kansas its just part of the territory so far Kansas leeds the nation in Tornados so far and its very very early in the tornado season even more crazy this year then most.

I have been terrified of tornados sense I was very little if you remember in Wichita we had a F5 tornado in the mid 90's that hit Andover KS and Mcconell Air Force base in Wichita The car me and my dad were driving in almost got sucked into that tornado ill never forget it.

Those storms were fun. The KC news stations have been covering the Tornado in Manhattan quite extensively. My kids were on the verge of a nervous breakdown, and the weather man (person?) broke into normal TV only to show a developing tornado drop from the sky. Tonight, I'm hoping the kids will sleep in their beds (my back is killing me).
My thoughts and prayers are with those who lost loved ones, and who lost their homes.

That is absolutely amazing photo, I have never been close to a tornado luckily. People think our Fla hurricanes are scary... I will take a hurricane over a tornado any day.

i thought whoever took that pic was crazy for being that close!

I don't think they had a choice...I'd think they're crazy for taking that pic, but then again, how often do you get a chance to take that picture? I'd go for it. :D

That is a cool pic. Unfortunately, it's been edited. According to the news stations in KC, it is a thunderstorm pic someone altered to look like a tornado. The power of photoshop!

gee thanks for the update:rolleyes: though whoever did the photoshop work did a really good job. there should however be a 15 second vid taken with a camera phone on youtube.

That is impressive photoshop work. Had I not seen the story on the news, I would not have believed it to be altered.
On a side note, I'm pretty sure this pic is altered. :D
