At SEMA I was routinely able to completely remove 2000 grit, dry-sanded scratches from cured paint using the RUPES compounds and pads (and lost performance by switching to other systems).

Hey Todd!

I would for sure assume a reputable tool maker would compensate for a larger throw with the proper design/materials to go with it.

It's amazing what frequencies, and vibrations can do to things. Whenever I have my drums tuned up just right, my guts get all jarbled up, and it feels like I've gotten a tune up.

I've been really impressed with what I've seen from these Rupes machines. There are some really impressive videos on YouTube. One guy used a Duetto from sanding to finish in on a scrap panel, and it did everything! It was that video that convinced me to add the Duetto and Mini to my tool arsenal.

From the reduced OPMs. this may be how they can claim reduced vibrations. That is one way to solve the problem.

As for the safety feature on edges, this is an attribute of non-forced rotation that most DA's have.

With any new polisher, how the company that sells them backs them up will be a key factor in acceptance.

I honestly can say I thought I wouldn't like the on/off switch and + - buttons, but I'm a fan, it easy on and off, slow start is awesome. I put way more pressure than I would ever need on it and it just kept spinning not fast but never stopped! Id have to say it is a machine that you can work with and just relax it was designed to make a detailers life just a little easier. That is all for today. Ps used both mf and foam pad both had awesome correction and maneuvered beautifully ps it's really light and skinny easy to get in some tighter areas.

If you Google this, the 2nd link has it on sale right now for $179. It won't be in stock for like 3 more weeks. But that's one hellova price!
 
I had a chance to check out this polisher last weekend and to see the internal wiring. I was given the option, but opted not to use it.


My $.02


  • The digital switch is a joke and looks like it came off of a toy from the dollar store, no joke!
  • It would drive me nuts having to turn the switch on and then hit the +/- every time to get to the speed I want. If it remembered the speed you last had it set on it wouldn't be so bad.
  • The internal wiring looked like a 5yr old did it!
  • The finish on the head looked like it was painted with a rattle can
  • Backing plate was very soft and cheap

I'm sure it's a very capable tool, but I just can't get past the internal wiring and that switch...for less money I would just go with a GG6 or G110v2.

don't know if i would purchase one now seeing that it's 'made' by them (assuming it's not available anywhere else re-branded under a different name). their customer service lacks and if you had problems with it i wouldn't want to have to worry about getting a replacement or trying to get a hold of them for that matter. hopefully the megs mt300 is worthy and every bit as good as this, because they stand behind their products 100%...

Meh, no thanks. If griots comes out with one in the future with its warranty, then maybe I'll consider it...
 
By the way is any one know if we'll have the new DA from shinemax here in US soon. They have displayed the 21mm, 15mm & 12mm in SEMA. Any confirmation if Griots getting them.
 
When buying a DA polisher, you need to consider the ability of the seller to back up the product especially with new machine without a proven track record. If AG sells it, you have someone to support you.

There have been some less than reliable polishers (mostly sourced from China) and takes time for something to prove itself. A few have been introduced and then the sellers stops carrying them to due various issues.

that is definitely true! it does need a track record! like the new meguiars! or griots! has the name behind it and AG sells it so you know you can be confident about it! i definitely want a flex pretty soon!

i'm surprised they haven't already (come out with their re-branded version with a little touch of their own like the GG6). with their reputation of the GG6, warranty, and customer service it would be a another great choice...
