Since I plan on restoring this 1 step paint on my old 98' Toyota pickup, I need to first touch up all the chips in the paint. But before I started, I wanted to post and ask for tips on what I should do with these particular chips. Rocks have impacted the front end and made these chips, but the paint seems to have been cracked and pulled away from the body slightly. (3 such types of chips) I would imagine that I need to carefully pull the paint off the body first?

Also, I bought a few paint brushes for this job, but would like to reuse them when I move on to my parents cars. What do I need to do to clean/preserve the brushes or do I need to throw them away after use?

If you could please give me some suggestions on what I should do I'd appreciate it. I have 4 fl oz of touch up paint the paint shop gave me so I have plenty for the job.

I will be waiting 3 weeks after painting since that would be the first weekend I have clear to work on the truck again. I plan on wet sanding the touched up paint, buffing, and sealing the paint at that time.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions/tips you may have!

I get a platic razor blade and put a small dab of paint on the edge and squeegy it into the chip like applying body putty. I do this until it is filled letting it dry for a while between applications and the rub the excess around it out with a fine polish.

My suggestion is to remove the flap sand and paint. Trying to fill in a flap with paint under it would not be the right method. That color will be tough to match. Remove the loose paint. Sand the edges. If it goes to bare metal lay down some primer first. Top with color coat in thin layers. After the paint cures depending on tempertures maybe 1-4 weeks color sand and buff. It's hard to blend clear into a chip repair but blending in a bigger area can work.

Gonna be a lot of work. Very much like the key repair link shared above.
