Your Costco towels should be fine. Are they the newest gold ones?

So you are putting us under the pressure of your deadline to recommend MF towels? LOL

Grab a MF starter kit, then go from there.

What is your experience with them? I've never seen anyone post photos showing swirls or other problems form these or any other towels, for that matter.

My experience is they are not very plush at all. They leaves fine scratches on certain paint systems. They are just all sorts of suck. In so many ways. Fantastic for door jambs, engines, wheels, tires just not your paint.

I disagree vehemently that they suck. They are one of the best deals out there and they get a bad rap here.

They don't suck and I started with them. The good ones get used for interiors and the dirty ones become wheel towels. I know from first hand experience that they will mar soft clear coat. I spend more and get better towels on my paint.

OP, do some reading and see what you need. Are you doing waterless or rinseless washes with MFs? I go through a ton of towels doing that. Otherwise I could get by with fewer. I think the superplush ones are likely overkill. I still like them.

Agreed. The best way to never induce a swirl is to have an unlimited supply of clean towels. I own nicer towels, but only because I like them, not because I need them.

I use a ton of these all year long, every year since I've been here at Autogeek, that's 8+ years now....

Gold Plush Jr. Microfiber Towels 12 Pack

Super Soft Deluxe Green Microfiber Towels with Rolled Edges, 12 Pack

Blue All Purpose Microfiber Towels 12 pack

Supreme 530 Microfiber Towel 12 Pack

Super Plush Junior Microfiber Towels 12 Pack

Use these for my own cars and in all our detailing classes.... it's always a good idea to buy a 3-pack so you're never without a high quality clean wash mitt.

Most of us wash our cars more than any other thing we do and what determines swirls and scratches is how we "touch" the paint.

So make sure you're "touching" your car's paint with a clean, NOT TATTY wash mitt each time you wash your car.

Super Plush Junior Microfiber Towels 12 Pack

I can completely dry just about any size vehicle with 3 of these,

3 Pack The Supreme Guzzler Waffle Weave Towels, 20 x 40 inches

And then wash and dry them and use them over and over and over and over again....

Great for cleaning glass.... the secret to streak free glass is a great glass cleaners and LOTS of towels so you don't cross contaminate glass when cleaning it. (have quite a few articles on this just use Google, my name and the words glass cleaning)

6 Pack Waffle WeaveMicrofiber Glass Towels

Use these for applying dressing for the inside of the car and also tire dressings and plastic dressings...

6 Pack Microfiber Applicator Pads

This is a MUST HAVE tool for cleaning the windshield and the back window

Glass Master Pro Glass and Surface Cleaner

Don't get the bonnet refill pack that goes with this tool, instead get these, they are a tight fit but work better

Deluxe 6 Inch Blue Microfiber Bonnets

And microfiber gloves for the final wipe of waxes and sealants. Also for cleaning steering wheels and metal polishing.

Microfiber Gloves 6 Pairs

Hope that helps...

:)

Hate to be repetitive, but... they will mar soft paint. You've been warned. And if they're marring soft paint, I have to believe they're marring hard paint, just not visibly so as quickly.
