On my own vehicle, I have alot of 'honeycomb' areas. Annoying as can be and attract all sorts of dirt and residues.

To clean the front grill I used a soft bristle tooth brush and some 4:1 APC. Came alright pretty good, but in the hood scoop I cannot take it out. Well, I can but it'd require me to take the heat shield off the hood and take the hood scoop completely off.

Is there any way I can get the residues out from the previous owner? I've had the car for 2 years and it's been eating at me for awhile now.

I tried being very gentle and using a soft bristle toothbrush but tried only water. Think I should step it up to the APC or is there an easier way that I'm overlooking?

Use a degreaser and blast it with a nozzle. When I can and the price allows. I remove them and soak any honeycombed large pieces.

When anyone read the word honeycomb, did TransAm wheels from the late 70's come to mind ??? (tell me I am not getting old)

Like Asphalt Rocket said, you can use a Q-tip...what's on the honeycomb grill of the scoop? Is it wax residue? If so, you can dip the Q-tip in vinegar and clean it (with a lot of patience). You could then use 'Black Wow' or 'Meguiar's Trim Detailer'...'Black Wow' will leave a 'wetter' finish whereas 'Trim Detailer' will leave a matte finish. If there is a lot of grime then using the APC will prepare it for either the 'Black Wow' or 'Trim Detailer'. Of course, if you can, using a microfiber towel wrapped around your finger or a toothbrush will be your best choice if there is enough space. M40 (Meguiar's) is also a nice product.

Well, I just used the APC to clean up my 7424. It had some sling on and alot of other stuff taht just collected on it. Al lthe residues came RIGHT off with the 4:1. I will give that a shot when I wash it. My car has been freezing over and almost shut alot lately, so I am trying to wait to wash when I can get out of the freeze which should be tomorrow or Wednesday.

I have some Meguiar's Hyper Dressing coming in tomorrow. I plan on diluting it to either 3:1 or 4:1 for a slightly wet/matte look.

killr, did you delete the one thread I accidently made in the show and shine?

Killer,

The wheels were my second thought--after the cereal
