Trim Restorer

I am an avid fan of TR, but it does last only 1 or 2 washes/storms. Would UTTG or ETS applied over TR to "lock" in the look or would there be compatibility/durability issues?

From what i've seen at least in UTTG, it needs a perfectly clean surface to adhere. The only other product I've seen it applied over is C4, but that is totally different than any other trim restorer.

I need a good long lasting back to black I used Peanut butter on my buddys Chevy Avalanche but lasted like 1 week

I applied it over TR after letting the TR sit for almost a week I believe. It didn't work out well for me. http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/product-reviews/29997-test-uttg-over-pb-tr.html NOTE: the 12 day update (post # 4) FAIL

I also used C4 which of course lasts a very long time and applied both WGETS and UTTG to it. They both darkened beyond what the C4 offered alone. Currently it appears the UTTG has bonded to the C4 better than the WGETS Did. See this thread: http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/product-reviews/37964-review-wolfgang-exterior-trim-sealant.html See post 45 for the 1 week update

And my PB TR Review (awhile back now) http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/product-reviews/29361-review-poorboy-s-world-trim-restorer.html

Wonder what you used to put it on with? I used an old washcloth, worked like a charm.

I tried a foam pad and terrycloth....it just seamed to go on to thin and if you put enough on it would not go on even

Quick question: am I understanding correctly that no trim restorer/protectant will last more than a few weeks (months if lucky) aside from C4?

Ultima Trim & Tire Guard will last 3-6 months or more on the textured trim I've used it on. On smoother trim I haven't tested its durability to its limits. I will say it lasts for months on my chrome trim and my wheels as well. The stuff is tough as nails. Whether or not you consider it a trim restorer is the only question. If you don't think its dark enough apply another coat a week later. Will it darken severely faded trim as much as a true trim restorer? Not so much. But then again C4 can't entirely restore completely faded trim either... It is an incredible product though and does restore faded trim much better and for longer than UTTG or any other product I've used. I was particularly happy to see I can coat my C4 with UTTG to darken it a little more.

Pretty much yes.

Typically most plastic trim is dark or black. Darker colors absorb more of the suns rays and therefore see much higher temperatures, all which contribute to the demise of these protectants.

Ultima Tire & Trim Guard Plus
works very well and I'll usually wait a day or two after its initial application then re-coat giving it an extra barrier and extending its longevity...

No problem! Also I didn't mention it since durability isn't proven yet but based on the amount of rain we have had and the results after 1 week I'll say I feel comfortable with the expectation that WG-ETS will outlast everything except the UTTG. I'm looking forward to the durability updates Im the MAN
