Hey guys & gals. :xyxthumbs:

This one is for my good buddy BillE.

Bill is a bit broken at the moment. Busted up his shoulder, which he partly blames on getting old, I think because Bill lives where it snows WAY too much & moving all said snow is sure to wear out at least one shoulder is more like it! :nomore:

Hopefully this will put a smile on your dial Bill. :xyxthumbs:

Here is a Triumph TR6 I detailed today. Sorry - I didn't capture any before photo's, as you can see in the background of some of the pictures, I had a grape harvester to do today also.

The Triumph national show is in town this weekend & I had the pleasure of detailing this TR6 for the show & shine tomorrow.

The car was driven from Christchurch, 300+ kilometers south of here, in the rain as well. Under side was washed down, paintwork decontaminated, nanoskin etc & 2BM washed.

Paint was in okay condition over all, with a few "lazy painter" sanding marks here & there, some RIDS on the boot lid, bonnet & what I am guessing - some marring from mechanics or the owner leaning over the front guards working on the engine.

A few swirls but nothing to excessive & for a repainted car the paint was relatively soft.

Polished with Flex, equipped with white LC Hybrid & M205. Topped with D156.

May I ask what the grape harvester will have done to it? In other words, what does a detail on a piece of equipment like that entail?

An absolutely beautiful example of a TR6. I've always loved these. My first roadster was a '78 Spitfire (just before the full rubber baby buggy bumpers), but I've always had a special place for the TR6.

Wow, I guess that has been restored (lazy painter comment) because as other posters said it look like brand new, considering it's probably going on 40 years old. Anyway, great job!
 
Beautiful job on the Triumph. I have an old Jag, so I know "boot" and "bonnet".
 
That was my dream car in high school. Would love to get one now, if I saw one that nice for sale it would be hard to pass up. Super Job, as always.

Yep - that grape picker was next . . & done now. About to head to work soon, just after 6am here & have another harvester coming in today. that one is only a small one - todays is the BIG version.

I dunno Bill . . . klutz . . maybe but the snow would be the major contributor me thinks. :props:

I still can't understand how anyone can survive in those temps . . . not even long enough to hurt themselves.

Perfect work in detail, it's great that some people still like to own such cars, 2.5L engine, 6 cylinders, 150 hp, 5500 rpm, 190 km/h not bad at all considering small size.
Surely Billy will be very happy very soon :-)

Apart from a few tracer marks from wet sanding (very minor) the paint work was very well done, the finish was orange peel free.

Does look "proper" don't it. The wheels suit it too. Under side was pretty slick also, wish I had more time to take pics.

Had some pretty trick upgrades too. Heated seats, with speakers built in to the head rests, nice period style "retro sounds" head unit, hidden antenna etc. I have a few pics of the interior, lost track of time last night & left the camera at work today but maybe I'll run in & grab it tomorrow so I can post some pictures of it. :xyxthumbs:

The harvester - the last few I've been doing (six so far this year) have been new ones. They arrive covered in a greasy wax coating that protects them during shipping etc from France. So 1st up, all that has to be washed off.

I spray it down with a wax & grease remover & pressure wash it off. Then foam cannon & let it dwell for a while, around twenty minutes by the time it all gets a good coverage of foam.

Rinse that all down & onto the big hand wash. A lot of up & down my work platform, move it here, move it there. Rinse as I do each section as its around the 26-30 degree celsius mark at the moment & want to avoid water spots.

Finish rinsing & plenty of micro fibre towels to dry & I'm ready to start on the interior. Interiors are pretty easy - a brief vacuum, wipe down all the surfaces with APC & glass cleaned.

One step cleaner wax ALL the painted surfaces on the exterior, machine polish any marring, scratches etc. All second hand machines get compound, polish, wax if needed. Exterior glass done & tyres dressed. Finished.

The perfect tyres for DP tire coating, considering the conditions the work in but geeze - imagine how much I'd need to ship down here!

On average these new ones take around eleven hours. Used ones - anywhere from sixteen hours +

Three new ones booked for next week. :buffing:

'69...well after I "left" the wrench turning world. It was the size of the tail lamps that got my attention (plus the FI engine).

I remember trying to drive 'right hand' vehicles...the steering part was easy, but trying shift with the 'wrong' hand. Well, let's just say, transmissions should NOT make those noises when shifting (LOL).

Oh, -15F (-26C) as I'm attempting to type...damn chilly if you ask me.

Hmmm . . . -26c!? What temperature does blood start to freeze? Pretty certain -8 would see me an ice block. Guessing you don't need an ice pack on that shoulder then Bill.

Hahaha - I could imagine. I've driven a few lefties but all have been auto trans - would be a strange sensation shifting on the opposite side. 6000 rpm & winding the window down . . . not a good look. Hahaha. :props:

. . . I got a phone call today from the owner of the TR6. The New Zealand Triumph TR National show was on over the weekend & this little beauty pulled in the trophy for "best TR6" - owner was over the moon as was I. :dblthumb2:

Excellent job! Beautiful car; I've always had a soft spot for TR6's.
