Haha, you know what's funny (before you and I met :D ). We had friends of ours staying at the house as they were evacutated from the beach. He and and I went to Publix to grab supplies, came to the checkout with case after case after case of Coronas and other beer. This lady goes guess you got what you needed lol. Power went out and our family and his played drunken Uno in the dark :D .

We were trying to have an inground put in, but everyone we called was so swampped some couldn't make it out till December (like that would help lol). We bought this huge (if you can call it poratable, rolls, but weighs a couple hundred pounds) generator that can power the whole house, lights, a/c, water heater etc. And friends of ours own Sunrise Recycling and have their own gas tank setup, free gas for us lol, since that sucker will go through a tank in a day.

You didn't see the big sucker in the garage? :D

bah, it's only august. Entirely too early for this crap!

ah well, time to go make sure the 7500 watt generator works. It'll run 2 fridges, a chest freezer, all the lights, fans, and a portercable!

Something I don't miss not one bit, all though I'll still vunerable here I just won't have to stock up every other week.

Hey there is nothing like having Canned Ham in your pantry and enough bottled water to fill a small pool. You tend to learn new things to once a hurricane hits, like who really knew what FEMA was, or a GRINDER, how about just how hard it is to get ice in the 20 century not to mention a three hour wait for gas, thats if you can find an open station.... ahh the good times!

OHH WAIT did I mention, we still come to work, without showers, and no a/c in the building. But we have packed our lunch, spam, water, and a pudding!

Generators are for wimps!! You miss the entire sweltering in the heat after the hurricane cooking on the grill, washing all your clothes by hand, urniating by candlelight experience!! What's the fun in that!

Don't forget ammo for the lotters ;)

Being a NJ boy for almost my entire life (except for my brief stint in California as a Vietnamese refugee), how often do you really endure the lossed power and stuff each year? Is it just a normal part of life during hurricane season?

If so, it must be quite a shocker for all the old retirees moving to Florida.

Ya get used to it :D . Except the last two season were kind of an anomoly, we got pounded and then pounded again each season before FPL and other contractors could fix some of the grids. So far durring each season, every storm has caused us to go w/o power for 1-2 weeks.

Two weeks without a hot shower.... do you really think someone wants to come up and visit, even if it to steal your flat screen!:D

I think I would have to rig up some sort of "Survivor" shower system with a bucket. Heck, that Optimum No Rinse wash would start to look good!

looks like you guys will luck out for now......it will probably change tracks 100 times before it actually hits somewhere. With my luck it will probably go around the tip of Fl and come up and curve into the west coast of Fl where I live!!
