Spoke with someone who keeps his car in pristine condition.
When he told me he uses Mothers Clay, I asked him if it marred.
He claims that it doesn't because he uses the lub that comes with Mothers Clay.

Feed back please
 
I've encountered marring with Toyota black paint on a cold morning.

Doesn't always marr, don't see it on my silver car.
 
Yes claying can mar the paint just depends on the paint hardness and if you use enough detail spray.
 
I would say that depending on the hardness of softness of the paint along with technique and the amount of clay lube used can all be a factor in whether or not marring can happen

There is nothing in Mother's clay system that is prone to marring. I have used Mother's clay with ONR and still no issues. So, in general, if the paint is marring it is either the technique or the paint is super soft. Either way, these things can happen out there so you are all the smarter now.
 
Keep in mind majority of clay is clay magic. Even the SV paint rubber is clay magic. Marring is mostly related to the hardness of CC. On a soft japanese CC or the stupidly soft Mustang Super Snakes, the mar when you look at them. A 2010 (jan-august paint) Mercedes Ceramiclear, you can use water as lube and have no marring.

We both have black lexus ... Think Lexus paint is generally
soft!
