Trying to clean up some oxidation

The most common thing said around the AutoGeek forums, start with the least aggressive product and work your way up. There, I said it.

If it were me, first I'd try a cleaner wax, and I have Meguiar's D151. You might find their cleaner wax equivalent in the local auto store. After that, work your way up the scale to a heavier compound. In the end you might find that whatever ran down that portion of the car has permanently discolored it and there's no easy fix. Your judgement should be used along the way so that you don't do more damage. If you're working by hand it's not likely though.

Thanks for your input, I will try that. I have the porter cable DA so will be trying to work it back with that.

That doesn't look like oxidation to me. It looks like a water and rust stain. It might require something like IronX.

Here's your picture

Do you mean the stain running down the body panel?

If so, that's kind of oxidation but more of a stain and some rust staining too like mentioned.

This should be an easy fix.

Use any quality brand compound, polish or even cleaner/wax and buff over the area till it's removed.

This stain will be mostly topical but it looks like it's been evolving for some time now so some portion of the paint will be stained deeper. Abrading the surface should undo the damage though.
