Tuf Shine Tire Cleaner CONCENTRATE Now Available!

FINALLY! The 7th cleaning was the charm! I got white suds! Perhaps I was expecting too much after reading so many great reviews and only 1 or 2 that had problems.

I ended up cleaning the tires with gasoline, Bleche-White, and Tuf Shine tire cleaner. Went through almost the whole bottle of the cleaner but got the job done I hope.

I cleaned the tires Friday and let them set all weekend. This morning I did one last clean of each tire with the Tuf Shine cleaner just to make sure they were actually clean. All white suds! Finished the bottle, so it looks like the other car isn't getting done anytime soon.

I just finished applying a coat of the Tire Shine onto each tire and they look good. I'll let them dry for several hours and see what they look like then.

The tire brush which came with the kit lasted only one scrub on one tire and it was pitch black. Really couldn't clean it off even after just the first time around the tire. Ended up using two brushes I had here at home. I'll have too see what I've got around here to clean the kit supplied brush. Maybe mineral spirits?

The tires are Michelin Latitude which are 14 months old, factory installed on the 2012 MDX. I have only dressed the tires twice since buying the vehicle new, and the dealer had some type of dressing on them when we bought the car.

If you hadn't cleaned the tires well enough prior to your first dressing application, to clean the dealers' mess off, and well enough between dressing applications, then it does make sense that it took 5+ applications of the cleaner. before dressing the tire, the tire should be as free as it can be from any prior dressings/dirt/grime.

Glad to see that it worked out for you.

Maybe, but I wash the car at least once a month and clean the tires with Bleche Wite (Westley brand, not the newer stuff). I don't like a high gloss so I have only dressed the tires twice in the last 14 months.

Perhaps it was the Aero 303 I had on there? I have read posts and seen pictures of other owner's who have used other products more often. They all had excellent results with the cleaner.

I'll just write it off since I finally got the tires clean by using a combination of other items also. I have another car I want to try this product on and see if I have the same problem with those tires. I have not applied any dressing to them at all, and they are about 12 months old.

The Tuf Shine tire brush is the best tire brush I've used so far. Mine turns black after the initial first cleaning of tires but always turns white once I get white suds. Might try applying some tire cleaner or APC straight and agitating the brush on a grit guard. Should turn white again.

Goo Gone will clean the brush with some work. Use a grit guard and run clean water somehow. Mineral spirits also may help. I always keep a can or two of Brake Kleen around. That will clean it as well. After that, clean it with APC and water.

Thanks for the suggestions and I will give them a try. Very pleased with the outcome of the look of the tires after just one coat of the Tuf Shine Clearcoat. Like I mentioned, I don't care for the glossy look, just a nice, clean, black tire.

I will be ordering another bottle of the cleaner and trying it on the other car. I figure it's worth it to give it another try and see if the cleaning is any different on a different brand of tire which had a different history of previous coatings.

Tuf shine clearcoat seems to last forever. I like cleaning and dressing tires (ok I may be a little weird) and with the clearcoat, they don't need dressing very often. And they clean easily.
