Tufshine Tire Clearcoat vs something else?

Hey guys,

I ran out of my Tufshine so I need to replace it. I really like the Tufshine but it can be a pain when applying to truck tires that have aggressive tread.

Do you guys have any recommendations for a good tire shine/clear coat that lasts a while and is easy to apply to aggressive tread?

I've found nothing that will last as long as Tuf Shine Clearcoat (after proper preparation/application), but I love BLACKFIRE Tire Gel, tire dressing, tire shine as alternative.

Haha too many options....keep in mind the biggest thing for me is to have something that is easy to apply to aggressive tread. Something that sprays on would be nice. Something that won't brown the tires is a must - one reason why I love the Tufshine

I don't apply tire "dressings" to tires' treads...
Doesn't matter to me whether the treads
are aggressive, or not.

Bob, I believe he is talking about tires that have an aggressive side wall such as these.

Black Pearl does give a pretty nice look, however the durability is not nearly as good as the Tuf-Shine Tire Clearcoat

•IMO:
-The tire you pictured has sidewalls that lay
between aggressive shoulders/shoulder blocks,
and down to the tire's bead bundles.


•As such:
-The sidewalls and shoulders would be the areas of
this tire to which I would apply any tire "dressings".

•Meaning:
-(Although I've seen it done many times before)...
-I would never apply any tire "dressings" to this
tire's tread...which lies between this tire's shoulders.

try using a paint brush for applying dressing on such tires. it's much easier than foam applicator!

I gave armor all spray coating a chance while I was in Walmart.Im a stickler when it come to products,and gotta say it's phenomenal just don't spray in one heavey coat or to close it will milk on you kinda mist it on .6 weeks strong as the day I applied it.

Here are a couple to consider.

Meguiar's Ultimate Black Tire Coating is an aerosol. I apply it in short bursts as if I was painting with a rattle can. It dries pretty quick. It won't be to glossy. It won't last as long as tuf shine. Probably around a month.

DP Tire Coating is another good one. It dries after a few min. It will get into that aggressive tread with the carrand brush. Mike has a nice write up here using the sidekick as well. Lasts a few months.

I am not sure what happened with Blackpearl, but I used it when it was first starting to really hit the market and it worked great. Once I finished that bottle I ordered a new bottle and the durability was totally different and the product did not last more then a month or two. I think Blackpearl gives a nicer look then Tuf Shine, however the durability does not seem to be what it was when it first hit the market.

I haven't used any of the other mentioned dressings but I do use 2 costs of 303 aerospace. Spray let sit for a few minutes then wipe with a MF. Then a hour or so later I do it again. Easy to clean up and dries to a perfect matte finish. It does repel some dirt and grime also so it's always a plus. I do a bunch of trucks where I live and most have those sorts of tires including my own and to use a gel it can be a pain. You probably don't need 2 coats but I just want to make sure I get even coverage.
