Hey guys, I sold my old Mustang and was thinking about a truck as my next car. Which do you guys believe is the best truck with the most reliability? Sure, gas would play SLIGHTLY in the equation as well. But overall performance, reliability, ride quality, etc. Here are the trucks I've been looking at.

2014 Toyota Tundra Crewmax, 5.7L V8
2014 Ram 1500 Crew Cab, 5.7L V8
2014 Chevrolet Silverado Crew Cab, 5.3L V8

Any suggestions or past experiences with trucks of a later model?

I've had a 04 Dodge 1500 for about 5 years now and have loved it. You can never go wrong with a Hemi. Its pulled everything I've needed it too. The new Tundras are also very nice trucks. A guy I work with has one and he loves it. No offense to chevy's but the silverado would definitely be my last choice. No real reason, just like the other two better.

I have had one of each! I currently Drive a 2013 Tundra. For reliability Tundra, for gas milage no so much( probably the worst of the three. The ram probably most fuel efficient due to the feature that allows for 4 cylnders to shut off when cruising and flat grounds. Great overal power too! The silverado.. Well.. its ok .. the current models are super nice. I had a 2009 and I just thought it was too "plain Jain" if you will.. decent on gas. Just my two cents. -

I have the new 1794 tundra and I absolutely love it! Interior is excellent and the driveline is proven. Put a tune and corsa exhaust on, excellent truck! Only real change to the new 14's over cosmetics is ride (which was inferior on previous model) and steering - very light now. View attachment 26736

Tundra and 4Runner here.....both drag through the mud sand snow slop tow everything I need to ride like a Cadillac 100% bulletproof.

My father just replaced his 2010 F150 with a 2014 ram 1500 crew cam big horn with the 5.7 Hemi and 3.90 posi rear. The ram is a beast compared to the Ford. It's faster and pushes 20 mpg. Ram hands down best truck you'll buy in my opinion.

I throw another vote in for the tundra I love the way it looks and who can beat Toyota in reliability?

I own a 4runner but If I were to get a full size pickup I'd go with a Nissan Titan.

After seeing this video im not to sure about the new Tundras lol..

I'm a Bowtie guy myself, the 5.3s are proven motors and i know plenty of people that have 300K + miles on theirs and they still run like new..

14 GMC SIERRA! Basically a silverado
I love the new LED lights in the bad,
Rear bumper steps and adjustable bed tie downs!!!

My choice would be the Silverado.
Question: Why no mention of a Ford truck?

I'm guessing the tune or new air intake wont help with the gas mileage would it? Could there be anything out there that will possibly help with the MPG for the Tundra?

Well I was looking towards my budget, and I am able to get a 1500 through a friend for about 30,000, which I believe is a steal! Chevrolet is having truck month offers, which allows me to purchase it around the low 30's. Tundra has always been my dream truck. I've been thinking about it over and over again, and the only thing that gets to me is the MPG. Ford is kind of on the pricey side for me. With that new EcoBoost, I'm looking at 40,000 around?

Thanks for the Ford follow-up.

Budget often overrules the emotions.
Sounds like some good deals on the Silverado.

Whatever you decide....find a used one with 17,000 miles on it.

You will save a ton!

No problem. And yes, people have been telling me about how the ecoboost really is kick ass! Too bad it costs so much...

If I were to buy a pickup, I would go for a Tundra. Probably one like Andrew Wilson has.

I had a DD Camry and it's reliability was unmatched.

the silverado has the better frame out of the other two. I would go with the 6.2 liter myself. anyway rams are nice but longevity is questionable. the only ram if buy would be with a cummins. tundras are reliable but if you're doing a lot of hauling and towing id stick with the big 3.

My vote goes to the ram. Especially since they now have the 8 speed bullet proof trans. I have an 09 and I love it. I've don't about every bolt on mod to it and I smoke just about anything that pulls up next to me. Plus that hemi with long tube headers sounds Sooo nice. Here's a pic of mine for motivation lol
