Turtle Wax Jet Black Black Endura Shine Trim Coating

I put it on my cowls of both of our cars on Saturday. Ours are 2014s so no restoring needed

I also tried it on the engine plastic pieces to see how that holds up over time. Normally I just use perl in those areas.

How did it end up looking?

How is the durability?

How long did it last? (Daily driver?)

Would you use it again?

Pros/cons?

Thanks!

I unfortunately did not have a chance to continue with the testing on these pieces. My mom was diagnosed with cancer back in September and well life takes precedence over this. The good news is she is cancer free.

I did use it on my dad's 2002 Camaro which is his daily driver and sites outside 24/7. It was applied back July as seen on page 2. I saw the car yesterday after he washed it and the trim still looks good. Not as black but it's been 4 months and it's held up well. I would use it again.

In a test I put a coat on my tires this Sunday. we will see how it lasts. It is quite possible it is the same as the tire stuff.

Glad to hear your Mom is doing well!

I've found that the TW Endura products aren't that well interchangeable, meaning the Tire Coat won't work well on Plastic Trim.

Have both, they're great products!

My wally world had the tire coating, but not the trim coating. I got the trim coating at my local O'Reillys.

Any updates on your car Guz?

I forgot to put up some recent photos.

I always have issues with this piece of trim on my rear windows. Wolfgang Exterior Trim Sealant didn't work to well for it. Meguiar's Ultimate Black works but it only last about a month before it needs to be reapplied. It turns greyish when nothing is on it.

I applied TW trim coating on 11/27/14. This is the initial application. TW made it look nice and black.

Here is what the application looked like after applying it on 11/27/14.

As of right now it is doing great and it looks just as good as when I applied it. It's been through some rain storms as well. I will snap a photo in a couple days to give you guys an idea.

I'll have to give this one a try.
I've used the TW Tire Coating on trim and it does work really good.
I'm curious to see if there's a difference.

The TWTC sure does last, another good thing about it that I love is it last for months.

Thanks for sharing.

I have used both the TW tire and trim coating. I've been happy with the performance of both but I have no other similar coatings to compare them too.

I was using Ultima Tire and Trim Guard on plastic trim and Duragloss 321 on tires before. The UTTG didn't help with faded trim but looked great on well-maintained trim. The DG 321 is nice, but doesn't last long.

Decided to try in on my wheel wells today. I typically use Meguiar's D4510 Plastic & Vinyl Coating. It's cheap and works well. Although the durability is about 2 weeks.

I prepped the wheel wells using Meguiar's D108 Super Degreaser and Meguiar's D103 APC+. I used a brush to agitate and get the plastic as clean as possible. Used my metro side kick to dry everything. This thing is amazing. Made short work of drying the wheel well.

After. Notice the streaking. More on this down below.

It could be the age of the trim, the trim itself or the applicator. I used the provided foam applicator with the kit. The coating didn't take to well. I applied 2 coats (10 mins apart as directed) thinking the plastic was just dry but the second coat didn't take to the trim as I expected. I also did not use it on the undercoating. Just the plastic trim.

From a distance it looks fine as it hides the wheel well. But up close you can really see the streaking.

In my usage of this, it works great on textured trim but not to well on smooth trim. Again this could be because of the age of the trim being 15 1/2 years old.

Would I use it again on the wheel wells for my personal daily driver? Probably not. Meg's D4510 gives a more even coverage even though it only lasts a couple weeks. Plus it's quicker to just spray then use an applicator on this car. My car is lowered and I had to remove the wheels to prep the plastic.

I will let it run its course and use something else. Once this wears off I will be trying out the new Meguiar's Ultimate Black Aerosol which is stated to last over 100 washes on the can.

Hope this helps. Maybe someone else will have better luck.

Nice writeup Guz! Can I use the Endura trim coating for tires? Has anyone else used it for tires?

I just picked up jet black trim coating on clearance at Oreillys and used it on the lower trim of my DD VW Passat. It's been on there a week and been through a couple rainy commutes. I'm very impressed so far. I'll probably pick up another bottle just in case they stop making it.

Thanks for reminding me. I was looking at this area the other day. It could use a freshen up. It's been 4 months and it is still looking decent. It has survived some rain, rinseless washes and 2 bucket washes. Not bad at all for this product.

I have not used it on tires. It does appear similar to the tire coating in terms of consistency and color.

Glad to hear it's working out for you. Let us know how long it lasts for you.

Thanks for the info about this at O'Reilly's.

FYI...I was in my local Wal Mart and they had the TW Tire Kit on clearance for $5...picked up 4 kits.
