TWHS flex wax discontinued.

They failed to keep up and seem to be paying the price.

I buy solely from online sources.

Pretty much, they reacted too late and have been left behind. Perhaps if they replaced some of the older products with the new stuff, in turn spurring rather than diluting existing sales.

As for shopping, 99.9% of what I buy is online due to the wider range, higher performing products and better prices.

I know I harp on it, but the same applies to most American brands sold here, the only brand that is realistic with pricing is P&S.
I rarely pay full price for these "impulse" buys, I buy them when they have their 25% sales, or get them when they go on clearance. Occasionally you get something worthwhile, like the 303 Graphene Trim Coating that I bought 6 months ago. I got some THWS Max Wax for $10 a while back, I think I'm going to try it out on the bullbar next, it was underwhelming on the paint.

I ment as a retail product from a store, Autobarn,Supercheap, Repco

My problem with this is why aren't these products and brands always at 25% off? All they have done is over inflate the recommended retail prices to allow for a constant cycle of on-sale/off sale. It's trickery because you just know that the sale prices are what they should be in the first price. As it stands, a basic ceramic detailer from the likes of Megs/Turtle Wax/Mothers being the same price or more than an equivalent Gyeon/Carpro/ADS/P&S product is absurd.

It's a shame because I know I'm not the only one who feels like this. In essence, the local importers are taking brands like Turtle Wax and Meguiar's off the table for many as they just don't see value in paying premium prices for non-premium brands.

I do too. I guess when you aren't into car cleaning that much, you don't realize how overpriced the majority of the Meguiar's, Adam's, Turtle Wax, Mother's brands are. For us, we go online for the wider range of choice and discover that RRP's are so over inflated.

So I went and looked at Turtle Wax and Meguiars products on Amazon Austraila. They are double or triple what those same products are in the USA.

Yep. The one I always point out is Adam's Car Shampoo, the blue one in a 16-oz / 500ml bottle. In the US, that bottle is $9.99 USD. In Australia, that same bottle costs $34.99. And because that Adam's is only sold by the one online retailer, you have to add shipping cost to the $35 too. For the same price, I can get 1-litre bottle of NV Snow or Koch Chemie GSF for LESS.

To be fair to those brands, it's a common theme in Australia for pretty much everything. Balancing that, our minimum wage is higher.

Also, to be clear, I'm not necessarily hating on Meguiar's, Adams or Turtle Wax here. Instead, I'm pointing out the greediness of the companies that import and distribute products for these brands.......................Meguiar's in particular.

Maybe it's just me but I love an underdog.

All these premium brands with the loudmouth pitching them in videos as the best new thing without a shred of evidence other than his sponsored opinion is a huge turn off for me. The funny part is the Turtle Ceramic spray outperforms almost all the premium products in its category and some in the actual true ceramic coating category.

Another stand out is INSIDE JOB. One of the best interior products I have used. Followed with their leather mist. Thru out the years I have found out their products just work.

I wonder that too, DI always has a 20-30% sale on something. Often site wide. They also send me quarterly 25% coupons in the mail.

At this point I'm wondering if the prices should just be 20% lower, period.

Um...wasn't this the whole Autogeek business model? Every week there was either a sale or free shipping. You felt like a fool if you bought anything when there wasn't a sale going on. All I'm saying is DI is far from the only one who does this.

That’s all the proof I need to believe that nearly all detailing products are being sold at least 20% over MSRP with the few exceptions.

I put some McKee's stuff in a cart the other day and went to check out and didn't like the shipping costs so I just abandoned it

A few minutes later I got this text

Hey Michael, this is Jessica from McKees37.com... and yes, I'm a real person not a robot :) I saw you were checking out our Floor Mat & Cargo Liner Rejuvenator. Good choice! Want me to check if I can get you FREE SHIPPING?

Feel free to not reply or send STOP to opt-out and you won't hear from us again :)

Whether this was an AI Bot or a real person is irrelevant to me, I replied and got a code for free shipping and you guys that know me know how often I go on a rant about shipping costs to Alaska

I put some more items in the cart and the free shipping held up so I pulled the trigger

This is the kind of stuff that drives me nuts when ordering, the on again off again discounts and gimmicky shipping promotions (most of which don't work up here) so I sometimes resort to jumping on a product that isn't exactly the one I want but the deep sale price or shipping discount makes it hard to pass up

As several of you said, drop the price 24/7, don't try to profit off inflated shipping and handling prices, and see what that gets you

It's really just retails sales version of yield management, same as we are (semi) used to on stuff like airline bookings, hotel reservations, etc. Knowing that doesn't make it any less annoying, of course.
