Sooo, yesterday night I was rearended and THENNNNNNN TONIGHT I got into a front end collision leaving work when a car turned into my lane.

Yesterday I was on my way to school to attend class at around 5:00. I'd just gotten onto the highway and went about a mile and a half when there was emergency lights and everyone slowed down, the guy behind me wasn't paying attention and slammed into the back of my car.

Cop saw it happen, was totally the other guys fault, went to get an estimate done today and it was $2,000 in damage. Had his insurance information so I was like ok this sucks but everythings gonna be OK, nobody was hurt and it will be paid for!

Then tonight I was leaving work and going straight through a 4-way intersection with lights. The light turned yellow as I was going through and the guy coming from the opposite direction decided to take shis left turn suddenly and entered into my lane and struck my front end. Both of my airbags deployed and my car was towed to a body shop, I should get word of the news tomorrow.

I'm hoping its totaled out as I really don't feel like its safe to drive with the amount of damage it has sustained.

Nobody was hurt in this second accident either luckily. It was a 16yr old kid who only had his permit that hit me the second time and he was really shaken up, crying and all. I told him don't worry about it nobody was hurt, accidents happen, don't let it scare you from driving!

All in all I feel very lucky to be in good shape, I'm just hoping that my car is totalled and they don't try to fix it since they are separate claims and the value might not exceed the value to total the car alone but it would exceed the value if the two claims were combined.

Just wanted to vent a little bit, I can't believe this happened two nights in a row, I feel like I'm having a nightmare ahha.

Sorry to hear that happen, but at least everyone was alright. Hope everything works out in the insurance so that you can use the money to get a new car.

That does sound like hell. Lucky everybody was allright.

I'm gonna guess that since the airbags deployed it'll be a write off.

Boy, that's some bad luck. I wouldn't go out and buy any lottery tickets if I were you. Glad you're OK. Good luck with the outcome. Hope they total it.

Dam they sad bad things always happen in threes....you might want to get a helmet and pads to wear for a few days.

Also odds are your vehicle is totaled, air bags deployed. Most cars its cheaper to pay out the full amount rather than have it fixed. Also if you have a more new vehicle, make sure to ask for depreication value if they do not total it. Might help them favor totaling it out.

wow talk about some bad luck, glad to see everyone was not hurt! Hope everything works out.

Just got the body shop estimate from the second crash. Its definitely going to be totaled. They estimated just over $10,000 to repair only the damage to the front, the back damage (the first crash) was estimated at $2,000 already. Bringing it to a total of ~$12,000 to get my Miata back in the condition that it was in. Blue book value private party in good condition was only $7500.

What should I buy now? :D

Here's a not very good cell phone picture of the first accident, it was too dark for a picture of the second one when it happened so I'll get a picture at the bodyshop today.

Something with big bumpers :dblthumb2:

I second the evo. the miata is a driver's car and I think you will find the evo is a driver's car as well, but on another level

Told you it was going to total out. Plus judging from your pictures, thats probably front core support damage + air bads deployed....I am amazed its only $10,000 to fix that! Pretty dam cheap.

lol Evo MR...$7500 is going to be a down payment on a $20k+ car with twice as much insurance.

I have a good friend who got into an accident pulling out of the body shop that just fixed his car from a previous accident. He pulled back into the body shop and they actually have a "club" for people who get into accidents relatively close to one another. Needless to say, he set the record for least amount of time between accidents.

get an evo VIII or IX. could find one with 60-80k on it for mid teens. Just shop around.... as far as insurance goes, my 06 IX MR is like 53/month, which is like $8/month more than my honda odyssey. and yes, I have collision on both

I love an evo as much as the next guy but unfortunately a used turbocharged awd sportscar way outside of its warranty period thats likely been driven very hard for its whole life just isnt realistic for me as a broke college student. I would have no money left over for when repairs and maitenance need done.

I agree completely. That's why when I was looking for a Z, I wanted something that was CPO so it still had a warranty if something went wrong and I car faxed everything. While it doesn't show some stuff, on my car it showed that he brought it to the dealership I bought it from about every 3 months or every 3-4k miles for oil changes/fluid changes/lube and regular scheduled maintenance since new.

Sorry to hear about your luck (or lack thereof). Looking forward to hearing what your replacement vehcile will be.

obviously a budget limits what you can get, but don't be scared off on cars out of warranty. I have NEVER had good luck with warranties even on cars I purchased brand new.

Ford Expedition - sh!tty service, called and said it was all done and go in to pick it up with the exterior door trim still hanging off

Ford F150 - two weeks to fix a door lock issue and the tailgate and lights were stolen off the truck at the dealer

Mazda protege - 4 attempts at fixing a sunroof that still doesn't work

Nissan Xterra - stratched up my car while in, and cut my remote start module doing a warranty repair and didn't didn't even tell me.

Dodge stratus - wouldn't replace a CV boot that tore due to manufacturing error. the retaining clip pinched the boot and ripped it- called it a "wear" item

I put no faith in warranty work. The evo is easy to work on. Motors are cheap and readily available. Tons of aftermarket support. easy to conver to e85 and make tons of power. Good thing is, if you find one decently cared for, most issues will already be sorted out. I bought mine tuned to limit on a stock block and know it was road raced by the previous owner.... that said, he took care of it. put a proper built trans in it, had oil analysis and compression tests done on the car. Any used car is going to be a gamble. I prefer to gamble on a car that is a lot of fun to drive.... especially considering you are coming from a miata.

What is your budget and what are you looking for in particular?

My heart is set on a Mazdaspeed3 in Celestial Blue Mica right now. I just heard back from the insurance company and got great news, so I should be owning a new car in not too much time.

As a GTI owner, do yourself a favor and consider it. 60 less hp but better in every other area. Search Google and YouTube for the Mazdaspeed3 vs GTI. GTI wins every time.
