Typical Kiwi Ute!!

Hello my Autogeek friends. :xyxthumbs:

Here is a detail I done not too long ago on a 2013 Holden Colorado.
Yep - its pretty dirty & not in great shape but all too often, quite the norm for me to get vehicles in this condition. Luckily I like a good challenge! :buffing:

Right, lets go . . .

This is how the Colorado turned up. As you can see - relatively dirty, lots of mud underneath & even through the coating of dirt I could see the swirls & RIDS everywhere.

. . . Hefty wash process completed & mud cleaned off the wash pad. :nomore: Door shuts cleaned up & ready for the interior detailing. Yikes!

Interior started with a lengthy vacuum, followed up with a combination of hot extraction & steaming. Tornador, APC, various brushes, steamer etc to get the trim cleaned up. Glass made sparkly clean, final vacuum & inspected . . . interior done. :xyxthumbs:

Polishing time. :xyxthumbs:
Paint clayed, inspected & test spot done. M101 on orange 5 inch LC Hybrids - M205 on LC CCS white & topped with D156.
Some 50/50 shots during compounding . . .

Finally - Colorado finished! :buffing:

Sorry, the sun disappeared & rained not long after so couldn't get any sun shots but i estimate somewhere around 80% correction on the paint - thinking the RIDS were more like REDS (Really Everywhere . . ) for this one.

Amazing doesn't describe that transformation! That was one of the dirtiest interiors I have ever seen. That Colorado looks new again, great job!

This was detailed for a dealer. Quite often i get the ones that no one else will or can do.

OT: That looks like a lot of the 'farm trucks' I see around here. Difference is they NEVER get even a simply 'hose off' till they trade 'em off.

Generally, with the transformations you see on here, there are a lot of the same answers.... "great job", "awesome work", just the normal quick compliments, so I never think to chime in with the same thing. but time is different. I mean this is one of the best transformations you will ever see. even for someone that has been doing this for over 20 years, results like this are rarely seen, because you rarely get an "opportunity" to work on something that bad. I'm not sure what the word is, but to call your performance "amazing" is not nearly doing it justice.
by the way, that's an odd looking vehicle? its like the front end is a Traverse, the doors are from a Colorado, the interior is a mix of the 2, and then the bed looks like something from a John Deere Gator.

Fantastic turnaround! The Colorado down under looks complately different from the ones we have here! The front end kinda looks like a Chevy Traverse.

Why do Aussies and Kiwis always get the good stuff and we get the second hand junk? I mean hell, it's a GM (American) brand, but they always get the sweet models years and years before us, and when they do come here, they are uglier or lost some of their best qualities (See Holden Monaro/Pontiac GTO boot/fuel tank issue).

But yeah, excellent work, buddy. That Colorado is pretty cool, little manual gearbox diesel truck....we don't get that diesel option here for our Colorados. I really like Holden's lineup overseas... and I always wanted an SS Ute, that would be so cool to have in the US.

The only problem I have with being handed a vehicle that looks like that is the feeling that since they will just treat it the same way again that you are being told "nice job, and here is what we think of it".

Then they bring it back again looking the same way.

Sometimes I just want to get it spotless and perfect. Then throw a really pissed off skunk inside it and slam the door as they are driving away.

Wow! Thats a huge statement. As much as these types of jobs look daunting - once you get into them they are very rewarding & fun. "typical" as in its typical for me to get utes, sometimes cars & SUVs in this kind of condition on a regular basis.

Thats a massive compliment. I would say on average - I'd do a job similar or worse than this maybe five times a month, so i get lots of practice.

I'm not too familiar with the Chevy Traverse - is it a mid size SUV? Is the Colorado you get there a GM product too?

Pretty poor condition for something thats only 18 months old huh. Sad to say - this was for a dealer, the owner traded in for a new Mitsubishi Triton ute. Wonder what state thats in now?

It did look "totalled" when it showed up. The drivers sill was worn down to bare metal - you would think he drove around with his leg hangin' out the door!

NZ is full of Holdens. I guess i never thought about that too much - i don't suppose you get a ute like Holden SS. Camino's & Ranchero's etc never carried on? My loverly lady Ange - her bosses both drive HSV (Holden Special Vehicles) Maloo's. Impractical as a ute but a fun toy.

Hahaha - i hear that. I could throw an agitated hedgehog . . . not really the same though. We don't have any skunks . . . or anything else very scary at all really.

Yeah, most Kiwi's are pretty harsh on their cars. A bit sad though. i'd love to be able to afford a $45k + vehicle . . . dam sure it'd get treated right.
