I'm looking for some discussion about uber pads. I have 2 griots 6" DAs, I do a volume business, using one step and now the mf system for correction. I recently got a 5 pack of 6.5 uber pads to test out. Using mg66 or m151 we found the orange med polish pad to remove more defects and finish better than the green polish pad, the orange is supposed to cut better so one would expect it finish out duller. The orange pad is made from a different foam and seems a whole lot like the tangerine hydrotech pad, which was my favorite for one step but the durability was not good on those. The HT pads seemed hard to clean and broke down after cleaning and a couple cars. The uber are machine washable and I've done several cars with one pad. one of them sunk in the center on the first car because I was pushing it to see how much correction it would do. Flat pads and Ht's dont like going over speed 5 on the griot. too much heat. Both pads are holding up well as long as I dont get them too hot. If we have to push a pad that hard we just do the mf system, it is sooo sweet.
We also did a test with d300 and the orange pad, quick passes created a nice finsh however it was still a 2 step process and does not correct as well as the mf pads. But it was much faster.
Anyway I was hoping others had experiences with Uber pads to share. I've searched several forums about them. It seems the green pad is more popular and people feel the orange one is too firm. I thought that of the Hydrotech tangerine. That type of foam has the ability to finish out very well for the amount of defect removal one gets. I ordered another pack of these, this time just the orange ones. Local detail vendors have light polish and finish pads but I have not found anything that works as well as the tangerine ht and now these orange uber pads.
comments please
