I can't believe people are complaining about this...... The "Issue" is a few people think the cord is too short and needs to be longer. Heck, it can be three inches for all I care, who does NOT use an extension cord?

Yes right, i read from autopia that the problem on switch and power cord (too short) will be improve but i dont know how soon?

This was the last post I saw publicly given by David. I had not seen where he had fixed the price yet.

Let's change terminology so everyone can be on-board.

Warranty Update -- This is a fix provided free of charge as part of warranty repair.

Revision Update -- This is an enhancement to the machine provided at cost.

Accessory -- This is an optional add-on part of piece of equipment.

Currently, we have two warranty updates we will be providing: documentation and a new switch slide. These will be mailed to all registered owners as soon as possible and will be sent to resellers/distributors to provide to unregistered customers directly.

In addition to the new switch slide, and a longer electrical lead, we have a single major revision going on "Rev 2" machines, that being our new counterweight shaft mechanism. We will put in place an update process for owners to have their machine upgraded for a fee.

We are still evaluating the cost of the upgrades and a new MSRP for the Rev 2 machines. It will be somewhere between $179.99 and $199.99. In this price structure, we will provide counterweight balance for 5", 6" and Edge2000 adapters. The delay on a final price has to do with not yet having the final price to manufacture the counterweight and bearing shaft assembly. Before this thing passes my test, it needs to spin reliably at 200% speed (12,000 RPM) without the bearing coming out. There is an amazing amount of load on that little sucker.

Just read this in a post by David B from 7-2007

Longer cord
- New switch slide mechanism and rear housing
- New counterweight system with adjustable balance

The cost of the upgrade kit will be $50. When the UDM Model 1000, Rev 2.0 is released, the list price will increase from the current $149.99 to $199.99.

Does anyone know for sure which is correct? Is it free or is it $50?

I take it as meaning the switch update is warranty. Counterweight assy. and cord would be 50.00. From what I have read the switch is a warranty item @ no charge. I can tell you I just bought one from the source and was told that all units they ship after 8-12 will have the new switch installed. There was no additional cost. Maybe do some reading here Autopia Car Detailing Forum - Ultimate Detailing Machine. Hopefully the link is OK with the Autogeek staff. If not, I would like to apologize in advance.

You got a response in the last few days from Lynn? I gdid not get any response.

The problem was (atleast for me) their website doesn't like firefox, just switch over to IE and it'll work fine.
