UGH! This burns me up....

LOL this is funny because it's true!! If I have two options, one being to park 12" away from a Mercedes and the other is 36" away from a beat up, rusted out pick up truck, I'll take my chances with the Mercedes. Typically speaking, the Mercedes drivers take a lot more pride not only in their own vehicles, but in other people's property as well. As for the rusted out pick up trucks, minivans, and multi colored teenage driving hoopties, you stand no chance.

I also do that. When I go to the Mall of America, I ALWAYS park at Bloomingdales. Why? Because when it comes down to Sears,
Macys, Nordstroms and Bloomingdales.... Bloomingdales is the most expensive with the nicest cars.

I'd much rather park next to "clean" BMW over a dented 90's econobox.

Have to love the disrespect people have for others property. I do the same and park away from everyone. Even still there is always one jerk that has to park right next to me even of there are 50 open spots.

So annoying!... Come out of the store with 8 cars surrounding me, all sides, all corners. When numerous spots are closer. I get the feeling that people need people. "___ is parking here so I need too"

I hate people. What is wrong with them? For some reason, nobody is ever in a hurry when they're IN the grocery store; taking their time, standing in the center of the isle, looking around aimlessly. But when they get out to their cars, they snap out of lazy mode and all of the sudden have to get home right away so they end up leaving their carts in the most obnoxious places. This is just a prime example of that.

I always push my cart to the cart corral, and 99% of the time will lock my cart into the next one and then push them all together so the next guy will think to do the same. I don't know why I bother; people don't change... :dunno:

People are stupid; one would think they cannot be "us". In reality we have all done it before; as we grew older we learned and now cower at the fact that someone else is still in that pre-pubescent state of mind (or not thinking at all). S

This is why I try to park way away from everything. I figure if I park my truck far enough away no one normally wants to walk that far...

I see this quite often and most of the time it's envy and jealously. Not having something nice for what ever reason gives them a green light to vandalize someone else's property. It's been happening for as long as I can remember however now it's much more prevalent.

I saw a guy the other day back into a parking spot and scrape his quarter panel on a metal pole

Depending on if I am in a rush or not, I'll even go the extra mile sometimes and grab a cart that is not put away (if it is near my car) and push it to the corral on my way in to the store.

i dont know whats worse stray carts or when people walk by your car with nine thousand key chains hanging off their hip and the key chains make a cling chang noise against your paint as the person walks by your car, or the people who must lean on random peoples cars while talking to someone....ugh this grinds my gears!!!

just to add my cars finish isnt in the best condition due to previous owners and this stuff just irritates me, heck my front end needs to be painted but that dont mean i dont take care of the good paint left on the car lol

Beat This..
walked out of my house and some people i have never seen were hangin out in front of my house and some girls were sitting on my trunk !!!!
To say i was pissed is an understatement....sometimes i wish i had a gun.:bash:

That's pretty disrespectful, but I can top it. I live in a townhouse, our back yards are about 40x30'. One of my neighbors thought it would be a good idea to rent a pony for his kid's birthday party and ride the pony in his and my yards. No, I don't care that you are trashing my lawn, no worries, I didn't need you to ask me first.... I pretty much flipped out.

People have no respect for other people's hard earned property. These people need to be deported to a place where they don't own property.

I car profile, you betcha! Much to my wifes dismay, I also park in BFE, but have noticed that sometimes my car gets attention I don't want it to have. I have actually witnessed walking out someone stopping next to my car (to check it out maybe?). I don't like that, and it makes me nervous. Parnoid? Maybe... I've had cars vandlized and stereos stolen from me. I drive brand x pony car and primered smoking honda tuner kid has a beef because he get is hiney handed to him by every RWD domestic he revs on. Stops by to make a special visit and leaves his mark via a dent installed by one Vans sneaker. Does this sound crazy? Nope, I've seen it happen. Thats why my "toy" car doesnt come out unless I can keep it in eye sight.

I always park way out on my own to try and avoid damage. I also always push my cart to the corral, but I'm also constantly amazed by the fact that it seems like a lot of shopping centers (especially Publix) down here in S Florida don't have them. I actually have the time and thoughtfulness to take my carts back inside where the other carts are (or pass it off to the buggy boy), but I always see them ramped up in the grass or left out. People are so laaazzzyyyyyyy!!

As for parking next to high end cars, I can understand that line of thinking. However, I work down in Boca Raton, FL and you'd be amazed at how some of those people treat their Mercedes and Maserati and BMWs (etc). A lot of times I think my little Ford Focus is the cleanest, nicest car out in the bunch.

The best is when you try and park by some real nice BMW or Mercedes because you think you stand less of a chance of getting dinged by it. Then some trophy wife comes out, sets her purse or coffee on top, flings the door open with reckless abandon, and generally makes you cringe for the paint.

Remember, sometimes people just have lots of money to blow on nice cars..doesn't necessarily mean they take care of them. :)

Best way to avoid the scratches: my wife drops me off in front of the store, I go in and buy the stuff, she continues to circle the lot slowly. :props: Of course, most times we do that so the baby stays asleep, but still....

You're right, Trevor. I guess in my mind, and it may just be ignorant thinking, but I feel that most (key word) people who own a nice Mercedes or BMW or Jaguar, etc., are in the position to buy/lease such a vehicle (usually) because they're educated, smart, and aware of their surroundings. While (not always) the guy in the beat up '92 Baretta is more than likely less observant of his surroundings, and more or less feels that everyone thinks the same way about their vehicle as they do.

Yes, that may be considered profiling, but it's also kept most of my vehicles ding-free (in my possession) for many years.

This thread reminds me of a somewhat recent thread about door dings. Hopefully BobbyG chimes in with some of his past stories. Hilarious!!

Have ya ever noticed, you park waaaayyy out in a parking lot; not a car, cart, POS, nuttin' around. Then when you come out, you and your vehicle are SURROUNDED by what you don't want to see?

Do cars/carts/junk migrate on their own? Are the other 'things' jealous?

Go figure...

Bill

if I ever see one jacked up against my truck it's goin in the back gonna be my new detail cart with an ag banner wrapped around it .

do the stray carts bother everyone the most or when u come out the car next to you is so dang close u need a can opener to get in . so u lookin for dings, dents and chips .
