...you are all driving me loony.

Did you all go through this too? Does it go away?

I was out today and saw an awesome Rolls Royce Silver Cloud with the big fenders, doors. Old School elegance... right down to the swirls. AUGH!!!!!!!

The beauty of the car was lost when I saw that it needed to be corrected. It was ridiculously clean just had swirls hahaha. And it ruined the car for me. :(

You guys are making me OCD for sure. It almost seemed to me that the car wasn't even clean, it was a complete distraction.

I am doomed. :dunno:

Welcome to being an Autogeek! Over the Summer the wife and I took a trip to Chicago, and while we were walking around I happened to find a Jaguar dealership that housed several new Ferrari's, several Bentley convertibles, a few Lamborghini's, Porsche's, and a Rolls Phantom. As you would guess, almost all of them were swirled. Give me a moment and I will upload a few pictures of the horror.

Ok, here is just one example of what I had to witness:

How about a little compound with your new car?

Maybe some dry to the touch stains?

Look, we even installed holograms and swirls at no extra charge

Now I enjoy seeing a beautiful Ferrari

Except when the clear bra looks like this:

I do the same thing... I even have my girlfriend spotting out swirls and buffer trails on cars. I look at them on almost every car I pass on the road. It really is addicting.

Just wait till you are watching TV and you are looking for swirls on the cars... Then you have already gone pass the point of getting help...

Remember the GTO from XXX?

:buffing:

I used to only look at makes of cars on the road that interested me, now I find myself looking at anything clean and shiny and really looking at the paint no matter what kind of car it is. I also see all the expensive cars that are filthy and just shake my head. I do a lot of head shaking when I'm driving now. Thanks AG!

Do not struggle
Do not resist
Let it go
Except your fate
Give your credit card numbers to Meghan :props:

Life's a journey so enjoy the ride.......but make it a shinny one!

I'm always now finding myself looking at the paint on vehicles everywhere. Looking at swirls, buffer trails, anything really.....it's an addiction that i don't want to be cured nor can be...

Great replies, I am laughing at the words or crying at the pics. It's good to know I am not alone... and will progress deeper into this fate or asylum or debt ...

Oh, don't feel bad. I was watching an episode of The A-Team the other day, and Murdock was getting into the bad guy's helicopter as the bad guy was trying to escape, and sure enough, swirls on the side of the helicopter, seen in the sun. Seen swirls on KITT in Knight Rider as well - funny, a car that is impervious to bullets and bombs, but still can't beat those unsightly swirl marks!

My head nearly exploded the other day when I saw a woman take a brand new BMW M5 into a gas station tunnel wash (the kind with the big spinning brushes).

I know how you feel. Shortly after taking an interest in detailing, a friend took me to a high end exotic dealership in Chicago. Masteratis, Bentleys, Ferraris and Lambos littered the floor, with about 4/5ths of them having scratches and swirls. I couldn't help but laugh at these jokers in Armani suits and slicked back hair, peddling these gorgeous cars without taking the care to make them look their best.
