Happy 4th of July everyone. I took advantage of the AG 4th sale and included the new Lake Country Ulti-Mit with my order. I found it to have conflicting reviews so the only way to form my opinion on it was to use it
.
Out came the buckets, Meg's Gold Class and the new mitt. I actually tried the Mike Phillips washing technique (found on google video) which is now my new washing technique. Anyways, back to the wash mitt.
The mitt is made of red, open cell foam, which is very soft on the front and the back is black which is also soft. There are a few hundred cubes which extend off of the pad which allows the dirt to be removed from the surface of the vehicle and out of the way to decrease marring. The cubes also make the mitt very flexible and durable. I can wash over emblems and headlights without getting snagged up or tearing it. The cubes also hold a ton of soap and water solution. I saturated the mitt and then squeezed it into a bucket and then transferred into a milk jug and it held about 1/5 of a gallon of water. Quite impressive. It is soft, safe, flexible, cleans well, holds a lot of soap and durable. What more can you ask????
Since this product is in direct competition with the Edge Shmitt, I will add my opinions on this subject... the shmitt is going in the closet :righton:. It is a great mitt all in all but it has its downfalls... like tearing, being bulky, not cleaning well with light pressure, no where for the dirt to go, and hard to rinse free. With the LC mitt all I have to do is dunk it into a bucket and rub it on a grit guard to release the dirt. The shmitt I needed to hose down to remove everything. I don't like having my hand in the shmitt but with the LC mitt that is the only way I used it. The shmitt is round ... how many round body panels are there in a car? The most I've seen are straight which makes washing a little tricky. The LC mitt is both curved at the top and straight on the edges, effective everywhere on a vehicle.
Take this review for what it is worth, I have used the shmitt about 100 times and the LC mitt is simply a step above, in my book. Everyone has their own opinions and hopefully this review will help you form your opinions if you are interested in this product or not. I know I should have bought 2!! One for wach hand
