Have a Audi A6 that is in dire need of swirl removal. How many Lake County Orange Light Cutting, White Polishing, Grey Finishing (maybe) and Red Ultra Soft Wax pads do I need to complete the entire job without having to clean pads during the process?

I know I could clean pads during the process but I would rather manage a group / number of pads instead of realizing that I need to replace a worn out pad in the middle of a job.

Any suggestions

it mainly depends on what products you are using.

for instance, i use optimum products and they don't seem to gum up pads all that much.

i'd get 3 of the orange and white, one of the gray and none of the red if i had to pick minimums.

for me.. i usually use 4-6 per car... reg size cars i use 1 pad per side...1 front, i per side and 1 back.. bigger cars/trucks i use from 5-6 pds....even while i';'m cleaning on the fly. better to use a new pad then using a saturated pad. when pads are saturated with product the cutting ability of the pad desreases...

I'm like you. I don't bother trying to clean a pad whilst working.Just grab another

From previous expierence. I would say 3 orange and 2 blacks should get the job done

Happy Polishing :buffing:

I usually use about 3-4 for the compounding step. 2-4 for the polishing. And 2 for the finishing step.

These are rough estimates but like everyone else if the pad is becoming too saturated I grab a new one.

There's a lot of sheet metal on an A6. So I would work on the high side of the above estimates. You don't want to run out in the middle of the job.

I don't know what model year you have. You should consider getting some 4" pads and backing plate for the pillars and bumpers.
